Gostou The site was great, with loads of space for everyone.
Facilities were clean and maintained throughout our stay.
Evening entertainment was well set up with a drinks van and a pizza van.
Lovely location, just a 5 minute walk from the beach, and a walkable distance to Rhosneigr along the beach.

Não gostou Would have loved if the coffee van opened slightly earlier in the morning as we didn’t have our own stove to make a cuppa.

Gostou The atmosphere was good. The food was good and would recommend the place for a good time.

Não gostou Fire pits allowed. Thats one of the reasons we booked.

Lit a fire and Mr Lefty came over and threw a bucket of water on it 😤

Gostou The campsite was fantastic, staff were lovely, drinks and food were amazing. I thought everything was reasonably priced and the live music was great every night. The campsite was quiet after half 11, everyone seemed to comply, and it is a short walk to a beach and to the town. The toilets and showers were bareable for the weekend and got used to the coldness. We will 100% be coming again :).

Não gostou My only small issue was perhaps there could be some more organisation with pitches just as it was a bit of a free for all. Wouldn’t stop us from staying again wasn’t a big issue at all.

Não gostou Pizza was great but the wait was an hour long and a bit pricey. Didn’t stop us ordering 2 nights in a row though

We’re sorry to hear about the long wait at the chip van during your visit. While they are an external vendor, we take all guest feedback seriously and have already shared your comments with them. We know they’ll be disappointed not to have met expectations that evening. In response to feedback like yours, we’ve since expanded our food offering — with multiple vendors joining our much-loved pizza and chippy vans on busy weekends. This past weekend, for example, we had three different food options running both evenings to keep queues down and variety up.

Gostou Excellent field, plenty of space to camp, no noise by 11.30 so got good sleep, location is amazing, 5 minutes from Rhosneiger and other lovely beaches

Não gostou Long wait times on food vans, drinks and morning coffee's (over an hour). Just needed more options to cope with the large demand. Cold showers were fine but hot would have been preferred

So happy to hear you had a lovely time and got a great sleep. We do pride ourselves in capping our capacity to ensure that guests have that roomy feel when camping. The views are outstanding and we are super happy to hear you enjoyed them

In terms of the food vans and bar etc with waiting times. Thank you for your feedback regarding this. The demand for each changes every week, depending if guests bring their own food or not. Being a campsite in which people bring their own food and drink we have to take this into consideration with the number of vendors at the site.

The bar team work very very hard in ensuring wait times are not too long, similar to that of a busy club or festival, and given that our cocktails are extremely popular, they do take a little longer to make than the standard spirit and mix or pouring a pint. But apologies if your wait time disrupted your evening.

With the coffee our sincere apologies that you had such a long wait. We have never had a wait time before of over an hour. In terms of meeting the demand of the coffee, which is a new venture for us this season and it only really being popular in the past few weeks, we have now purchased more equipment to meet demand which we are excited to trial this weekend coming. At Camp Bongo we pride ourselves on guest and team feedback and do our upmost to make the relevant changes where needed.

In terms of the cold water showers, being a pop up campsite and not being allowed the structural requirements to install plumbing, hot water showers at this moment is not yet possible. We are however looking at ways to provide hot water without structural changes that pop up campsites are just not allowed.

First, regarding your comments on our composting toilets: as clearly stated, Camp Bongo is a pop-up, festival-style, adults-only campsite. Permanent plumbing infrastructure is not possible in this format, and we deliberately chose composting toilets over chemical porta-loos because we are committed to being as environmentally responsible as possible.
This is part of the experience we advertise and what many of our guests actively choose us for.

We take cleanliness extremely seriously. Our composting toilets are cleaned by our team every couple of hours, and Environmental Health has inspected our facilities and confirmed they meet excellent standards. You may also have noticed our 5-star food hygiene rating for our on-site catering, which reflects the same level of care. To describe the toilets as “disgusting” is simply not a fair representation. They are different to domestic, plumbed bathrooms — but they are safe, hygienic, and well-maintained. Hand sanitizer is provided in every unit, and there are sinks with running water available on site.

If you had hygiene concerns during your stay, the most effective step would have been to raise them with our owners or managers, who are on site throughout every weekend and always available to help. Instead, you chose not to mention it at the time and only raised it here, which unfortunately means we couldn’t address your concerns directly.

We understand our unique style of camping may not be for everyone — and that’s absolutely fine. But it is this uniqueness that makes Camp Bongo special, keeps us fully booked most weekends, and has so many of our guests returning again and again.

We were also surprised by your rating of our customer service. Our team is the heart of Camp Bongo — hardworking, friendly, and available throughout the weekend to make sure every guest has a great experience. To score them so low simply does not reflect the reality of the service they provide, and we feel it’s important to highlight this for anyone reading your review.

Our staff consistently receive praise for being warm, positive, and genuinely welcoming. It’s disheartening when such dedication and genuine friendliness are not recognised.

As owners, we are on site at all times and have never witnessed poor customer service from our team. However, if you feel your experience fell short, we encourage you to email us at info@campbongo.com with specific details of the interactions you found unsatisfactory. Without this, it’s difficult to understand the reasoning behind such a low score, especially given the consistent positive feedback we receive from the vast majority of our guests.

We stand firmly by our team and the outstanding service they deliver — they are one of the key reasons so many people return to Camp Bongo year after year.

It’s disappointing to hear you wouldn’t return, as Camp Bongo offers a wonderful experience to those who embrace its festival-style charm. Gostou Lovely weekend away for my birthday. Pizza, chippy and cocktails were all 10/10. The entertainment was brilliant! Short walk to the beach and the weather was perfect for it! Would come back again.

Regarding your comments about the composting toilets — we understand that they can be unfamiliar to some guests, especially those more accustomed to traditional plumbed-in facilities. However, as a pop-up campsite with a focus on sustainability and minimal environmental impact, composting toilets are the most responsible and viable option for us. They’re also a significant upgrade from the standard chemical porta-loos you’d typically find at large events or festivals.

Our team maintains the toilets with care — they’re cleaned frequently, stocked regularly, and topped up with sawdust throughout the day. The sawdust plays a key role in minimizing odours and aiding the composting process. We do provide clear instructions on how to use them, but unfortunately, when guests don’t follow these steps (such as skipping the sawdust "flush"), it can lead to occasional issues — which seems to have been the case during your visit. For that, we sincerely apologize.

We're continuously looking for ways to improve guest comfort, including exploring non-invasive ways to offer hot water facilities within the limits of our site’s infrastructure. We also encourage all guests to come speak to us directly if something isn’t right — we’re always here to help and quick to respond.
