If you’re keen on the sound of a simple getaway with ample bike rides, campfires and beach days (among other things), there will be some smiling faces at Forest Edge. This tree-lined rural setting is within the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, where walks and cycle routes weave past the likes of woodlands, open heaths and river valleys. There’s a lot that’ll turn your head locally, aside from that. Sidmouth, a scenic seaside resort with Regency architecture, a beach and pretty hikes to Peak Hill, is only a 10-minute drive away from Forest Edge. This town is known as the gateway to the Jurassic coast, so you could soon be hunting down fossils and sheer cliffs. Handily, it’s a five-minute drive to Ottery St Mary, a pretty handy town (known fondly by locals as Ottery) with a good number of independent shops, as well as a supermarket. If you’d rather have a pint of something local, the local pub is only a 20-minute walk in the opposite direction to Ottery St Mary. If you’re back after 10pm, it’s quiet time in the designated quiet zones on site (so that families and other sleepy guests can get their important shut-eye). You may very well be ready to hit the hay after exploring the 30 acres of wild land surrounding Forest Edge or visiting local National Trust properties. Earlier on, feel free to hire a firepit and log bundle from the site, which includes firelighters and kindling. Fresh water points, a toilet block and hot showers make up the site’s other very handy facilities. Dogs are very welcome here, just as long as they’re kept on a lead at all times within the site.

Gostou: This was my second visit in a month on a cycling trip and like the space between pitches and the tranquillity of the setting. Especially liked seeing a barn owl glide over the field in the moon light.

Tenda em forma de sino (de luxo, proibido para animais)

Gostou: Great location, fantastic hosts.
We hired 5 fully furnished Bell tents and 1 pet friendly tent. Furnished tents were nice, big enough to accommodate 4 adults and we're provided with everything one would need to have a very comfortable stay.
Sarah and Andy were super helpful hosts.
Forest surrounding the site is full of birds and animals, you can hear them in the night.
Toilet and shower facilities are good. Toilets could be even better with a use of bit bigger hand washers and mirrors.

Gostou: The lovely layout and simplicity of the site, with lots of space around each massive pitch make Forest Edge stand out.

Forest Edge looks beautiful with its wild meadow separating the well-kept grass pitches. The space was perfect for us and our reactive dog, I've never seen him so relaxed, both day and night because he didn't feel the need to 'guard' our tent/pitch/van/campsite/county... :) On a 'normal' campsite you've got people walking past the tent day and night so he barks a lot.

The solar showers were brilliant, clean and hot. The toilet facilities were also perfect.

The hosts were very welcoming, friendly and kept themselves busy all the time.

Não gostou: The only downside for us on a site with no electric is that there isn't a communal freezer for freezing ice packs. Although we were allowed to put some in the owners' freezer it felt a bit cheeky. A separate freezer would be a massive bonus in summer.

Gostou: What a fabulous place. Huge camping area so it is not at all crowded. Lovely and welcoming hosts. Excellent hot showers and toilets. Everything solar powered. Good 4G signal. Idyllic location on the edge of a forest. Dog friendly. Everything we needed and we had a lovely couple of nights here. 5* and we would come again. Thank you xxx

Não gostou: Nothing except the banging music in the distance from the nearby Beautiful Days festival which is nothing at all to do with the brilliant camp site!

Gostou: We enjoyed an excellent pitch site close to the forest with the hooting of owls during the evening.
Sarah welcomed us with a lovely smile and answered all our questions.
Showers and toilets kept clean and good hot water supply.

Atrações locais

Fancy a good hike? Pull on your outdoor gear and make a beeline for Dartmoor National Park (35 minutes’ drive). The craggy landscape has heaps of walking trails and wandering Dartmoor ponies, as well as the occasional Neolithic tomb and medieval farmhouse. Finding lush outdoor scenery is rather easy, what with all of the gorgeous scenery around the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Alpaca trekking (10 minutes) is a unique way to take it in (and spend a couple of hours with a bunch of - possibly - hilarious animals). Donkeys provide the dramatics at The Donkey Sanctuary (10 minutes) in Sidmouth; plus, there’s the bonus that they’re being very well cared-for thanks to the funding of visitors. Shoot down the log flume or pay a visit to the family of meerkats at Crealy Theme Park & Resort (20 minutes) too.

Acomodação alugada

Alojamento para alugar: é necessário um depósito de 50,00 £ (60,34 €) para danos/limpeza/pulseira à chegada. O depósito será reembolsado após o check-out, caso não sejam identificados danos/perdas durante a inspeção da unidade.
Não são permitidas chamas no interior das unidades de alojamento alugadas.
Your unit must be left clean and tidy; a fine of 25,00 £ (30,17 €) will be charged for unclean units upon departure.

Admissão

Pelo menos um dos membros do grupo deve ter 25 anos ou mais.
Pessoas com menos de 18 anos devem estar acompanhadas pelos pais ou tutores legais.

Alterações efetuadas nas suas férias

As reservas não podem ser alteradas no período de 7 dia(s) antes da chegada.

Cães

O parque de campismo não aceita cães com pedigree ou cruzamentos de raças classificados como perigosos ao abrigo da lei de cães perigosos ( nomeadamente Pit Bull Terrier, Tosa Inu, Dogue Argentino e Fila Brasileiro).
Os cães devem ser mantidos com trela e estar sob a supervisão constantes dos donos.

Chegadas e partidas

As chegadas tardias deverão ser notificadas ao parque de campismo o mais rapidamente possível. A sua reserva será mantida durante 24 horas. Após esse período, a direção reserva-se o direito de alugar a sua unidade a outra pessoa.
As unidades serão alocadas à chegada.
Não serão efetuados reembolsos/descontos em caso de mau tempo, chegadas tardias ou partidas antecipadas.

Geral

A direção reserva-se o direito de recusar o acesso ou de pôr termo à estadia dos hóspedes cujo comportamento seja considerado inadequado. Não serão efetuados quaisquer reembolsos.
Caso tenha uma reclamação, apresente-a imediatamente na receção. As reclamações que não forem comunicadas à direção durante a sua estadia não poderão ser tratadas após a sua saída do parque de campismo.
O parque de campismo não é obrigado a efetuar um reembolso em caso de força maior.
Os aparelhos de rádio, música e televisão devem ser mantidos num volume baixo. As portas e os porta-bagagens dos veículos devem ser fechadas cuidadosamente.

Segurança

É proibido fazer fogueiras.
Não são permitidas armas de fogo.
Recomenda-se que os hóspedes tragam consigo uma lanterna de boa qualidade, uma vez que algumas áreas do local não têm boa iluminação.
São permitidos churrascos, desde que sejam elevados acima do nível do solo e sejam sempre supervisionados por um adulto.
Se desejar fazer uma fogueira, o combustível, a lenha e o carvão devem ser adquiridos no local.

Veículos

Apenas um veículo pode ser estacionado ao lado da unidade. Os outros veículos devem ser estacionados na área designada para esse efeito.
Não é permitida a circulação de veículos entre as22:00 e as 07:00.

Visitantes

Os veículos dos visitantes não são permitidos no parque de campismo.
Os visitantes devem abandonar as instalações até às 22:00.
