Hunters Lodge Caravan and Camping Site

Gostou The site, although if your roadside can be bit noisy. Easy to walk into town. Train station, bus route and a ferry across to Exmouth all in town. Liked the darkness, sounds silly, but nothing worse than bright lights at your pitch. Facilities basic but clean. Chickens, duck and geese on site. Lots of wielding areas. I loved it.

Gostou Very nice location, easy walks to several pubs and train station and the ferry over to Exmouth.
The site itself is clean and quiet.
The owner is very helpful and accommodating.

Não gostou Nothing - would be nice to have another set of showers, but it's a small site so didn't have to wait for long.

Gostou Absolutely loved the site, quiet, 15 min walk to pub serving good food, shop, rail connection, bus 5 min walk, lovely recreation ground just down the road, onsite fresh eggs, kindling and logs for sale, huge pitches, super clean facilities, cute ducks waddling about the site, loads of wildlife life, hot showers, clean loos, friendly helpful owner, adults only, relaxing countryside setting.

Gostou From the moment we arrived, the site felt like a little sanctuary. Beautifully maintained, with immaculate communal areas, everything radiated care and attention. Ducks wandered gracefully around the grounds, adding a touch of gentle magic to our days (just keep your snacks safe they know where to look 😅).
As the sun set, a deep stillness embraced the site. By 10pm, most campers had retired, leaving only the soft hum of nature to fill the air. The energy here is calming, restorative, and perfect for unwinding. We found it to be a true place of peace. There is the roadside in which we travelled
where traffic can be heard in the background but you soon forget it’s there as the surroundings are blessed with so much more. There is a welcoming pub just 15 minutes walk away serving wholesome, locally sourced food, a shop and rail connection nearby; a bus stop just 5 minutes walk away. Onsite there’s fresh eggs, logs and kindling for sale, spacious pitches, spotless facilities, hot showers, and friendly hospitality. Everywhere, there is wildlife, owls calling, birds singing, and those delightful ducks reminding you to smile.
We stayed on Oak Pitch 7, which felt like our own secret field, untouched by others and shared only with the natural world. At night, the soft breeze carried the calls of owls and the tapping of woodpeckers, while by day two little robins graced us with their presence, perching on the fence and chirping as if to say hello. It was truly enchanting. ✨
The location itself is a gift, peaceful walks to country pubs, an easy train or ferry connection to Exmouth, and endless countryside to explore. The owner is warm, attentive, and always present, making sure everything runs smoothly while creating an atmosphere of welcome.
Everything listed about the site was true and more we stayed 10 nights and easily could have stayed longer. Hunter’s Lodge has left a mark on our hearts, and we already find ourselves longing to return.🌞 🌿💫

Gostou The site was lovely, well maintained and the communal areas were kept clean and tidy.

Ducks roamed freely and were a lovely addition.

The night times were quiet with most campers signing off at around 9.30. There is a road nearby but it didn’t bother us.

We stayed in pitch Oak 8 which was a little restricted for our tent but once again it did not bother us. The pitches all seemed nice and flat too, which is great.

The details listed were accurate and we absolutely could have stayed longer.

Owner was present and always available if you needed him.

For those that want/need WiFi, we paid £10 for 3 days and it was fab.

Não gostou So there are 5 toilets, 2 for ladies, 2 for the gents and another one that we found further round. These were clean and well stocked. The issue for me is that for both ladies and gents, 1 of the above toilets was located in the shower room. This meant that only 1 ladies toilet was left, I was queuing for the shower for 30 mins on one day! I am not sure this lies with the site or whether it lies with ladies maybe hogging the facilities , for toilet, shower, styling hair, putting make up on and then dressing! Surely toilet, shower and back to your tent/caravan to finish off would be better.
Bearing in mind your shower is maxed out at 7 mins, which is perfect and keeps you focused on the task at hand.

In balance I don’t think my husband had any problems at all with accessing either of the above.

So maybe separating the toilets from the shower would be good but also maybe us ladies should also think about how much we can do back at our pitch too.

Gostou Peaceful relaxing stay.
Quiet site, spacious pitches.
Flat brick pitch with gravel side for awning if needed.
Ducks and geese wandering around the site and chickens in a coop
Small pond.
All facilities for servicing the Motorhome.
Short walk to starcross station and ferry and also the anchor inn in Cockwood.

Não gostou Electric hook up was at the extreme limit for our lead so had to face the vehicle the other way.
