And as you'll see from the pics, it's a mighty well-appointed and well-maintained place too. Set about seven miles from the small town of Baldwin in western Michigan's Lake County, Pere Marquette Oaks or The Oaks is a spacious and scenic place, with greenery all around, paved roads for easy access, and concrete pads on its fully-serviced RV areas. The spotless amenities include a bathhouse and laundry room, handily placed alongside the swish pool and hot tub area, so you can clean your clobber in between your watery submerges.
Events at The Oaks are arranged regularly by the park's residents (keep an eye on the communal noticeboard during your stay), and guests of all ages can also while away the time at the road golf course, play area, among the outdoor games or at the covered pavilion. The surround have rivers and lakes to fish in, ATV and off-road trails nearby, and the 18-hole Marquette Trails Golf Club just across the road: trips to there are regularly held too...

From Northbound US-131 (Grand Rapids):
Take Exit 142, 19 Mile Road. Turn left (West) for 16.5 miles (the road will curve to the right and then turn to the left after 12 miles). At the stop sign, turn right (north) onto M-37 for 6.5 miles. At the blinking light, turn left (west) onto 76th Street for 2.5 miles. The campground will be on your right.
From Southbound US-131 (Cadillac):
Take Exit 153, US-10. Turn right (west) toward Ludington for 16 miles. At the stop sign in Baldwin, turn left (south) onto the M-37 for 3 1/2 miles. At the blinking light, turn right (west) onto 76th Street for 2.5 miles. The campground will be on your right.

Loads of options are within easy day trip distance of The Oaks, including boating, fishing, off-road driving and – if you care to test your luck – two casinos within 90 minutes' drive.
Michigan is a popular place for four-wheeling and off-road driving: if you care to test your skill, the best place for it is at the Silver Lake Sand Dunes Area 50 minutes away, for a 2,000-acre sand mountain to roar around via a jeep rental or dune tour. The dunes are part of a vast recreation area too, with golf, a petting zoo, horse riding and markets all at your disposal, and boating, fishing and Lake Michigan beaches just inland at Silver Lake.
An hour's drive from The Oaks will take you to Big Star Lake for more of the same, or to sightseeing days at Ludington or Big Rapids. Within an hour and 20 minutes is the riverside city of Grand Rapids, once named as the top tourist destination in the US: head here for events and concerts, the Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park, and the Van Andel Museum Center, one of the oldest museums in the country.
