A resort town, an easy day-trip drive to one of the world’s most famed cities, and an easy walk to the beach… all combine to give you that carnival feeling at Campeggio Bosco Pineta, a family-friendly site in the Veneto region 10 minutes’ drive from the seaside town of Jesolo and 50 minutes from Venice.
Bosco Pineta is a prime spot to base yourself for excursions into Venice – less than an hour away, you’ll be able to eat gelato on Piazza San Marco, explore the Doge’s Palace, look over the Grand Canal from Rialto bridge and be serenaded by a gondolier, or take a tour of the spectacular islands. And, if you’re lucky enough to be staying during Carnival, you’ll be able to catch one of the special transport services into the city from near the site or stick around Jesolo for its own event.
It might be hard to imagine staying this close to the Floating City without spending every second wandering its streets and canals, but sometimes people need a break from even the most stunning spots… on those days, there’s plenty else to do around Bosco Pineta, from biking tours to beach time (the sands are a couple of minutes' stroll away).
After all the excitement, it's easy to chow down on some delectable Italian treats as there are plenty of restaurants to try within 15 minutes of the site. If you’d prefer something more low-key, stock up on supplies at one of the local supermarkets and cook in the kitchen on site.

Venice might be the big draw in these parts, but the rest of Veneto is no slouch either – if you want to explore, make your way to Jesolo Ambient Bike, 10 minutes' drive from Campeggio Bosco Pineta, to hire a bike and set out on more than 500 kilometres of cycle routes. Along the way, you might like to engineer a stop at Laguna del Mort nature reserve for a quiet beach and winding paths towards the lagoon.
On the days when you’re not up to going far, there’s loads to do in Jesolo: fulfil your racing dreams with a turn on the Pista Azzura go-kart track, visit the aquariums to get up close with the local sea life, learn about Italian military history at the army museum, or keep it low-key with a round of miniature or regular-sized golf, all within 15 minutes of the site.
If the kids are somehow still unsatisfied, get those landlubbers a spot on the Jolly Roger pirate cruise, which sets sail five minutes away, or let their adrenaline spike at the Aqualandia theme park and waterpark, 10 minutes from Bosco Pineta.
