What stories will you come home with from your Vendée stay at Terres d'Histoires at Camping La Residence du Lac? Perhaps they’ll be tales of beach days at Saint Gilles Croix de Vie or Saint-Jean-de-Monts, bike rides on Noirmoutier, peaceful fishing afternoons, castle outings, canoeing, zoo trips, waterslides…
Every individual story will be different, but many aspects stay the same for all guests... The splendid location for starters – on the banks of Lake Apremont and a 10-minute amble from the little village of Maché for groceries and restaurants. The scenic surrounds are open to all too, with lots of little villages and footpaths for rural wanders, and Apremont town 10 minutes' drive away.
The well-equipped caravans form part of the setting for all stories as well – each has been set up with a comfy lounge area, a big TV and a good-sized kitchen full of handy kit (fridge, hob, toaster, coffee maker…). The private deck has outdoor seating for lazy afternoons in the sun and there’s a shared barbecue area nearby.
And it’s quite possible that the site’s facilities will play their part too: perhaps there'll be a starring role for the swimming pool, tales of the folk you met in the bar or restaurant, or gloating anecdotes of triumph on the pétanque court.

Not sure where to start with your local outings? Sign up for one of the excursions organised by the site team: lakeside bike rides and watery activities at Le Port du Bec are all on the weekly schedule throughout the summer.
If you’d rather break out on your own, there are lots of watersports activities to be had in Saint Gilles Croix de Vie (half an hour’s drive) and Saint-Jean-de-Monts (35 minutes). Also over by the coast are family-friendly days at Atlantic Toboggan waterpark, Parc des Dunes adventure park and the zoo in Les Sables d’Olonne.
Stay inland and you can still hit the beach in Apremont (10 minutes' drive) – take a wander around the village’s castle and church before settling on the sandy lake beach for swims, fishing, canoeing or boat hire.
Can’t get enough of the sea? Take trips to the islands of Noirmoutier (50 minutes by car) or Yeu (two hours by car and boat) for quiet bike rides, beaches and fine fresh seafood.
