To the Vendée countryside, and an easy way to sort an outdoor break for the family: Koko Holidays at Camping La Ferme du Latois is a place where the rental tents are set up, equipped with plenty of kit and ready for guests to move into.
As well as being a convenient option, this park is also in a handy location for all sorts of days out. The seaside resorts of Saint Gilles Croix de Vie and Bretignolles-sur-Mer are about 15 minutes away by car, and the watersports hub of Lac du Jaunay is a couple of kilometres away. Horse riding, fishing, mountain biking and a tree-climbing park are all available in the local vicinity, and it’ll take around an hour to drive to Le Puy du Fou for a history-tinged theme park day.
It’s not just the tents that are well-equipped here: that applies to the whole of the site, in fact. Much time is likely to be spent at the heated outdoor pool with its waterslides, and the kids can also hang out at the playground, bounce on the trampolines or join in with kids’ club activities (May to September). Archery and pétanque are also on the cards here, as are boating and fishing at the site’s two superb lakes. If you’ve got any time left, hire bikes to pedal around the local area.
Each tent has a little kitchen, and you’re also allowed to bring barbecues along; a food shop is on site to supply either of these. Don’t fancy cooking? There’s also a snack bar, restaurant and bar – and evening entertainment in high season too.

Atrações locais
It’s no wonder the Vendée coast is such a popular holiday destination: it’s got over 140 kilometres of kid-friendly sandy beaches to choose from. If you like a bit of coastal activity, head to Bretignolles-sur-Mer for sailing, kitesurfing and sea kayaking, or to Saint Gilles Croix de Vie for surf lessons. Both are about 15 minutes’ drive away (and both have lovely beaches for those who’d rather just sit and chill out…)
For a bit more activity, head over to Lac du Jaunay (half an hour on foot or five minutes’ drive) for waterside walks and canoe paddling, play a round at the local course (five minutes’ drive) or climb up into the trees at Le Grand Défi adventure park (10 minutes).
There’s also plenty of action to be had on a day out at the history-inspired theme park Puy du Fou (an hour), a place that’s consistently listed among France’s top attractions. For a taste of town life, it’s about an hour to Nantes and an hour and a half to La Rochelle.
