Perhaps you’re planning a long-distance hike, or maybe you’re more of a leisure stroller… either way, Trinio Camping is in a most handy spot for all sorts of rural walks. This friendly family-run Mid Wales farm site is in the little village of Llandrinio, surrounded by gorgeous Powys countryside and with views up to Admiral Rodney’s Pillar and Breidden Hill. It’s a laidback place with pitches across several paddocks and simple facilities in the form of toilets, showers, chemical disposal and a washing-up area. Getting out to explore on foot could barely be easier, as the Offa’s Dyke Path is close by and the Severn Way passes right through the fields on site. If you’ve got other outdoor pursuits in mind, quad biking, golf, go karting, paintballing, horse riding, mountain biking and watersports are all nearby too, and there are plenty of fishing spots, castles, gardens and historic buildings around for those seeking a quieter time. Although this is a properly rural site, it’s not hidden away down lots of little winding lanes, so getting out and about should be straightforward. Having the A483 nearby means you can get to Welshpool in about 10 minutes and Oswestry in 15; heading over the border to Shrewsbury should take only a little longer at about 25 minutes. Closer to home, a few minutes’ walk will get you up to the village centre for a popular local pub and a well-stocked shop where you can pick up all the bits you need for a picnic or an evening by your barbecue.

Gostou Clean and well lit facilities, good and free shower, good recycling and waste. Seemed like a well organised and well ran place. Can't argue with the price either. Quiet rules were obeyed. Easy to get too, nice views, lots of walking around the area. Firepit and wood for cheap from the owners. Seemed popular with families, nice to see kids playing in the long grass in the middle. Loved engraved mirrors.

Will stay again, no question.

Warning! If you go walking along the Severn on the camp site side of the road bridge, the two crossings shown close to each other on ordnance survey maps do not exist (satellite maps confirm this)!

Não gostou Facilities are cramped and limited, though being a warm bank holiday didn't help.The use of rough wood in some places is a little concerning, and a little odd given the lovely finishing elsewhere. The showers need curtains to keep clothes dry, even when hung up on the back of the door. Even with a torch it's hard to see where the edges of the mowed road are in the top field when walking to/from the toilets at night. Some markings would be nice. Easy to get to from a good road, but this also means road noise, some big vehicles early in the morning. Wouldn't want to be in a tent in the bottom fields.

Gostou The site was lovely with beautiful scenery, it was busy but there was plenty of space between pitches so it didn’t feel cramped. We went with friends and they accommodated us being next to each other. The showers, toilets as washing up area were lovely and clean, the owners were so friendly and came around the site multiple times a day to check everyone was ok.

Gostou The site was well set up, with everything you need for a lovely stay.

The owners were very friendly and helpful, checking in with everyone in the evening to see how our stay was going.

The local Spar at the petrol station was really well stocked and the staff really friendly. It's an easy walk to the pub.

Gostou Space of the pitches, friendly & helpful & accommodating owners, beautiful views, lots of open space for children to play, small/medium site, clean toilet & shower facilities, supplied bricks for bbqs & fire pits, apple & plum tree, animals, freezer for freezer blocks, general atmosphere around the site was lovely between campers, great washing up facilities. Fantastic location for visiting many site seeing & walking opportunities - canoeing/kayaking on Lake Vyrnwy & swimming in Rhiwagor waterfall were particular highlights.

Não gostou 1 or 2 more showers would be great, but not a major problem, we never had to wait more than a few minutes for one to become free.

Spotted Breidden Hill from the site? Head over to take a closer look – it’s only about 10 minutes away by car and has a circular walking route to follow. For other walks nearby, take a stroll through Llanymynech Rocks Nature Reserve (10 minutes’ drive) or seek out the waterfall trail to Pistyll Rhaeadr (35 minutes). Lake Vyrnwy (35 minutes) is another fine place for a walk, either taking the lakeside route or following the sculpture trail, and it also has watersports activities including kayaking and windsurfing. And if all of that sounds a bit exhausting, maybe a ride on the Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway (25 minutes) will suit? For different days out, have a taste of local history with visits to Powis Castle and Garden (20 minutes) and Chirk Castle (half an hour) or board a canal boat to float across the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct (half an hour). The sculpture trails at the British Ironwork Centre (20 minutes) make for a fascinating outing too.
