Like Topsy, it just growed…The Barn Caravan Park at Lancing, West Sussex opened in 2003 and has been growing and welcoming guests ever since. Fret not though if big sites aren’t your thing: this is a peaceful medium-sized site and is carefully maintained by owner Joe to avoid overcrowding even in busy periods. Hide yourself away here or take a trip to Brighton about seven miles away; several West Sussex beaches are even closer to hand. Pitches are on grass and come with access to The Barn’s five toilets, baby changing, showers with lashings of free hot water, and a cold water beach-type shower for outdoor suds. There are picnic tables for guests to use, and a good play area with full-sized football goal, swings, ball game area and a climbing tower slide. A handy little extra is the licensed café/bar, which sorts guests out with drinks and ice creams throughout the summer. For getting off site, buses and trains are within a mile; Lancing train station, with a supermarket outside, is about half a mile away. Eating out can be done in style at the smart Art Deco restaurant at Shoreham Airport, a mile away from the site. You're also welcome to bring your own barbecue to the site.

Gostou Stayed for 5 nights. Nice level, spacious grass pitches, never felt crowded in. Large open area in the centre of the site for children to play. Short walk to main road for buses along the coast to Worthing, or Brighton, and an easy walk into Lancing for trains, so it was simple to leave the van and get around. Owner told me that he was planning on improvements to enlarge shower/toilet block, which were pretty adequate for the numbers during our stay. Small on site shop, although I didn’t use so can’t comment further. Felt a comfortable and quiet site to stay on.

Não gostou Hot water for washing was sometimes lacking. No drive over grey waste dump, although owner says he hopes to construct one during the winter. Although there is a wheeled cassette that you can borrow if you don’t have one.

Gostou This is a lovely quiet field just of a housing estate but you would never know!
Flat pitches with electric hook up.
Decent facilities and a nice play area for kids and room to kick a ball (which is allowed).
Little coffee shop on site which looked nice but we didnt use it.
Train station 15 minute flat walk and a train every 15-20 mins to Brighton.
Asda also next to station for those essentials.
The site owners were great and recommended places to eat nearby and what might need booking. We ate at The Bridge in Shoreham which was great with a fab decking area looking over the water.
We also ate at The Perch in Lancing (definitely book), service was a little slow but food was fabulous 👌
We also had a major downpour just as we were about to take down the tent which meant we were late leaving the site and the owner was very good about this and appreciated we couldn't have taken it down whilst it was raining so heavy. We are truly grateful for his understanding 🙏
All in all a great site, great location and friendly owners.
We will not hesitate to book again if we want to visit Brighton in the future.

Gostou Great location - near the beach, walking distance to Perch, the station and 700 bus to Brighton. Great clean facilities and well maintained. Spacious pitches and friendly owner. Also has a cafe which we didn’t use but very handy. Love the fact it has an outdoor table tennis table

Não gostou Could do with another toilet and shower esp when busy.

Não gostou Nothing to dislike really, small area to wash up & only 2 showers & toilet cubicle, but it is a small site. Says there is a cafe, no cafe just a small area to have an alcoholic drink.

Gostou Lovely field hidden away from this very built up area. Surrounded by trees and hedges, everyone camps around the perimeter. This is the only campsite with facilities in the Worthing area.
Plenty of hot water for washing up, lots of space for children and a good play area.

Não gostou Even if you book a space won’t necessarily have been allocated a space, as I found. There are only two loos and two showers for us women and girls, not really enough when the site is busy. Whilst the water in the showers is hot, there’s no hot water for the two hand basins and there was no soap provided in the dispensers.

Gostou Really nice open site close to shops etc,toilets and showers really clean and well stocked with toilet roll and hand wash...

Não gostou No dog walk area so always needed to go out in car to walk dogs and bad opening into site ...maybe needed mirrors to see what's coming before you pull out

Atrações locais

Beaches, beaches, beaches… the nearest beach, South Lancing, is within a short walk, with the beaches of Worthing and Shoreham-by-Sea each two miles’ walk from here. Or head west along the coast to the flumes of Littlehampton’s Harbour Park or to the bountiful resort of Bognor Regis. The town of Lancing is less than a mile away from The Barn with a nature reserve, Lancing Ring, to its north and restaurants and shops at which to fill your boots and empty your wallet. Worthing is also well worth a look as one of the biggest towns in the area – and the former home of Oscar Wilde and Harold Pinter for those who like their literature. There are a couple of hundred listed buildings in the town to make your way around as well as the biggest museum in West Sussex, an undercover shopping centre and, er, a haunted oak tree. Along the coast to the west there’s cracking Chichester with its Norman cathedral, festivals and shops; Fishbourne Roman Palace, the biggest Roman home in Britain, is just outside the city. Going inland, nature lovers, sightseers and adrenaline seekers will find heaps of things to do: the market town of Horsham and its birds of prey centre; horse-riding, hiking and historical artefacts in the South Downs National Park; the RSPB reserve of Pulborough Brooks and the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust wildlife haven Arundel overlooked by Arundel Castle. Sprogs have plenty of choice too: take them along to West Sussex’s farm parks and play centres, to Chichester for mountain boarding (not biking) or for a puff on the South Downs Light Railway.
