Looking for a Suffolk spot with lots of open space? The dog-friendly Stonham Barns Holiday Park might hit the sweet spot. Well-placed for the Suffolk and Norfolk countryside and coast, this place is equal parts relaxing and active. The latter is very much helped by the fact that the site is part of the Stonham Barns Golf Park site, which has a whole host of family-friendly (and quite frankly fabulous) attractions… There’s a pirate-themed miniature golf course, a sensory room and a funfair with rides and bumper cars, which should all prove a hit with pint-sized guests. No need to go hunting in the trees: the Suffolk Owl Sanctuary on site has over 80 owls and daily flying displays featuring birds of prey. Catch a comedy or tribute act at the Aspal Theatre, sojourn at the fishing lakes or get creative at the pottery painting studio, all of which are on site. Among these attractions are handy foodie places too. There’s a tearoom if you’re craving an afternoon tea and cake, a restaurant powered by local produce and a village shop selling essential food fare. These pair well with the bar and clubhouse, which has sports screens and celebrity evenings, and a shopping village full of niche independent shops. Along with a showground hosting weekly events like car or dog shows and a Sunday car boot fair, these are all one to two minutes’ walk from the pitches. On the immediate site, however, the facilities include showers, toilets, a washing-up area, disabled facilities, wifi, a kids’ play area and spaces for kids to run around and let off steam. There's also a post office on site which provides cash back and other banking services.

Gostou: The staff were all lovely especially in the legends bar which was nice and clean and the food was lovely.

Não gostou: Pitches close together. The toilets and showers really need updating and cleaning. The whole place has an old worn-out feel to it, lots of empty shops etc.

Gostou: The little shops and cafe 24, free WiFi

Não gostou: Toilet and shower block were containers,need updating,showers were cold full of spiders,could not adjust shower head,camping grounds looked like a building site and smell of sewers as walking around to the shops raw sewerage in the dyke ,constant drone of generator by our pitch,uneven ground at pitch kept stepping into a deep hole,price of pitch not worth the money for what it was,was not shown where any amenities were upon arrival, had to hunt down staff upon arrival nowhere to be seen and not answering phone,paid 20 pounds to enter the motorcycle event and it was rubbish came out after 20 mins, crazy golf overpriced and owl sanctuary too expensive, was expecting more for price of pitch will not be returning

Gostou: The facilities were clean and easy to access. There was a lot to do onside "pending opening times" but plenty to see. There was events on that weekend which didn't interfere with touring site.

Gostou: Great site, lovely sized level pitches. The onsite club and cafe were fantastic and very dog friendly which was great for us. Lots to see and do, good shops, adventure golf, 9 hole golf course and more. Facilities although not luxury were very clean and had everything you needed.

Não gostou: Nothing to dislike.

Gostou: We loved everything Stonham had to offer. Loved shopping village with yummy lunch at the cafe 24. and car boot sale on Sunday, legend club was fun with live music and plenty games for kids, we did pottery and kids loved playground with big sandpit. Fun fair was good just a bit overpriced. We loved footgolf and footpool. Such laugh filled weekend. Campsite was spacious with good facilities. It was clean and had all you need for a camping. Thank you Stonham!

Atrações locais

With all the attractions on site, it might be a while till you look outwards in search of entertainment. However, when you do, the Suffolk coastline is splendidly within reach, as the site is on the A1120 tourist road. Thorpeness (50 minutes' drive), Aldeburgh (45 minutes) Southwold (50 minutes) deliver on walks, watersports and simple seaside amusements. This is also an excellent place to channel your inner historian and deep dive into the past. Framlingham Castle (20 minutes) is a Norman castle with a walk across the 10-metre-high walls. Sutton Hoo (half an hour) is just as spectacular, with two medieval cemeteries where a ship with Anglo-Saxon pieces was found. Perhaps pretty walks and eating out in restored Victorian buildings next? Snape Maltings (40 minutes) on the river Alde is a splendid setting for strolls and cycles, whether around the riverside loop or joining the Suffolk Coast Cycle Route 41. Take in the scenery on a river boat or sip on something caffeinated in the many independent eating venues in the Victorian buildings.
