Settle yourselves down here, Shakespeare fans: Dodwell Park is just two miles from Shakespeare’s birthplace, Anne Hathaway’s cottage and all the bardly attractions of Stratford-upon-Avon. There’s peace, there’s quiet, there’s a countryside setting – and if all that still isn’t enough for a final attempt to get the kids (and dog) reading sonnets, you can culture-ise them by taking them along to nearby Warwick Castle for all sorts of horrible history. Sorted. Dodwell Park is a small family-run site where the amenities are kept to spotless standards, with free hot showers, dishwashing facilities and hairdryers to keep the barnet looking tiptop. A shop and off-licence is on site, and armfuls of leaflets are at the information stand with info on Stratford-upon-Avon and other local tourist attractions. Nearby are Cotswold villages with Shakespearely thatched inns, walks and cruises along the River Avon and the hills of the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Boating, fishing and old buildings are at Luddington village about three miles from Dodwell Park. Leaving the car behind to avoid hiking up car parking costs in Stratford? A regular bus service stops right outside the site.

Gostou: The welcome was lovely, with friendly staff. The site is reasonably close to the town centre and the facilities were clean.

Não gostou: There was no policing of the noise curfew and an inconsiderate guest was playing loud music into the early hours of the morning. Seemed very comfortable doing what he liked and I was unsure if he was a regular guest. I had very little sleep - as did other guests who had knocked to complain but were met with defiance.

Gostou: Fantastic site, friendly welcoming staff who were more than happy to accommodate a change of pitch ❤️ facilities are ideal and very clean, shop on site that sells the basics, great dog walking field the rabbits may disagree 😂and a regular bus service into Evesham and Stratford, will definitely return, 5⭐️

Gostou: Cleanliness. Helpful staff. Convenient location. Welcoming tent campers. Quiet. Immaculate site.

Não gostou: Motorhomes used far more electricity than caravans or tents. Some probably used over 60% of the site fee. No allowances made. But this applies to most sites. No recycling evident. Staff always available.

Gostou: Lovely site. Great showers and washing facilities.Grass cut. Bus stop out side, but cheaper to get a taxis into Stratford.
Shop well stocked . Friendly owners.
Dogs welcome with a place to exercise them.

Gostou: Nothing

Não gostou: On arrival the male warden seemed quite rude, even heard him talking about a customer after they had left the office. He was quite grumpy and didn’t want to help. However the female warden was very pleasant and helpful. Toilets are very outdated and showers were very small. When we arrived 1 sink was out of order. There was a very unpleasant smell coming from another sink! Most pitches are on a slant. We struggled to get in and out of our van as we had to raise our van to level it. We won’t be coming back.

I can only apologise for the "grumpy warden" who was in a lot of pain that day but that's no excuse !!
Yes the toilets are a tad old but we keep them clean and fresh we hope to think, the sink was out of order as it had been very loose and it was our duty of care to get it fixed which we did on the day you arrived , so we had to let the silicone dry around it hence it being out if order that afternoon and over night and hence the smell of the silicone it was not from the other sink !! sorry you were not happy with our site and will not be returning but wish you all the best!

Many companies offer cruises along the Avon, but to save pennies take a trip on the old chain ferry for 20p, or stay on land and take the mile and a quarter route along the Avon for views of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Shakespeare’s burial place Holy Trinity Church and the Memorial Theatre Gardens. Scores of other walks can be had in the Cotswolds, the biggest Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in England, with miles’ worth of footpath and bridleways broken up by small villages and market towns. The Cotswold Way runs 102 miles south from Chipping Campden to Bath and passes many historical houses and churches. After Warwick Castle, families can have a day out at the Ragley Hall Estate to get lost in the 3D maze, or go to Kenilworth Castle with its kids' audio trail covering the history of the castle and the lovelorn Robert Dudley who built it in the 16th century to impress Queen Elizabeth I. Kids will probably also like the gizmos at Stratford’s MAD (Mechanical Art and Design) Museum, Hatton Farm Village at Warwick or driving you nuts around the world’s biggest collection of historic British cars at the Heritage Motor Centre, which has the Land Rover Experience, a nature path and a playground.
