Three terrific lakes, two tennis courts and 40 kilometres from Lyon are all figures that bode particularly well for holidays in Isère. The common denominator? Koko Holidays at Camping Les 3 Lacs du Soleil, a collection of pre-pitched canvas accommodation set in the grounds of a family-friendly holiday park. But back to those lakes, where guests can fish, swim, take out a pedalo or engage in other exciting watersports. On top of that, the safari tents all come with free access to the site pool, where a jacuzzi, parasols and sun loungers are thrown into the mix. Other entertainment options such as miniature golf, tennis, table tennis, beach volleyball, pétanque and a gym are all ready for you to use. If all that sounds a bit tiring, don't worry – the site's abundance of quiet green corners means there are plenty of shady spots for naps and picnics too. You won't have to rush around the local area looking for practical amenities here, as Koko Holidays at Camping Les 3 Lacs du Soleil has a bar, wifi, a restaurant, a laundry room and bike hire. This Rhône-Alpes site is within reach of Lyon (an hour's drive) and the Vercors mountains (roughly an hour), putting heaps of spectacular scenery within your reach. Urban explores around Lyon, France's food capital, are likely to be accompanied by all sorts of agreeable flavours, while over in the mountains Grenoble (an hour and 10 minutes) is well worth a visit to see its world-class galleries and riverside museums. Sticking closer to the local area, Crémieu (10 minutes) has ruined ramparts and castles from the Middle Ages, as well as a popular annual medieval festival that sees the locals dusting off their suits of armour. You might also like to head towards the Rhône and sparking Glandieu falls (30 minutes) or to make tracks for one of the several renowned distilleries in the Chartreuse Massif (an hour). Gearing up your itinerary to keep the kids happy? Your best bet could well be Walibi Rhône-Alpes (30 minutes), a theme park with dozens of different attractions, or Vallée Bleue (20 minutes), an outdoor activities centre where they can try their hand at mountain biking, kayaking, go-karting and waterskiing.
