Legg til bedriftsinformasjonFolks who favour hols with heaps of outdoorsy antics, this one’s for you. Camping Blaauw, on a family-owned farm three kilometres from the village of Sint Nicolaasga, is a fab spot to settle in for Friesland fresh air and frolics.
Lakes, forests, fields and canals provide the scenic surrounds here, and with them come plenty of places for walks, bike rides, fishing, golf and watersports. Small boats and kayaks can be rented on site for pottering in the lakes and wetlands; sailing boats can also be hired nearby for those planning more wide-ranging adventures.
Even right there on site you can start dipping your toes into nature – there’s a sandy beach area here with safe fresh waters for swimming, a little animal park and access to the lake for kids who fancy a bit of pond dipping for fish, frogs and water beetles.
A playground and giant jumping pillow are also on site to keep the kids amused, and in summer there’s a whole load of extra activities laid on for them, including crafts, treasure hunts and spooky bat-spotting safaris.
Fuelling all this wholesome activity is easily sorted at the site’s brasserie, open all day in high season for breakfasts, snacks, drinks and meals – head to the terrace or grab some (highly recommended) pancakes and cosy up by the fire as the weather dictates.

Lokale attraksjoner
Roaming about in nature is a cinch from here – you can hit cycle paths and walking trails directly from the site and launch boats from the little marina to head out into the canals and beyond to lakes such as the Langweerderwielen.
Should you prefer to stick to dry land, there’s a golf course a 15-minute bike ride away, or the folks on site can provide you with ideas for bike routes ranging from 10 to 40 kilometres long.
If it’s warmer waters you seek, there’s a subtropical waterpark in Joure, 10 minutes’ drive from the site, with a wave pool, toddler pool, waterslides and a whitewater course.
On less clement days or if you fancy a break from the outdoorsy activities, there are several museums in the area that are worth a trip – the maritime-themed Fries Scheepvaart Museum and National Model Railway Museum in Sneek, the arty Belvédère Museum and the UNESCO-listed D F Wouda Steam Pumping Station are all about 25 minutes away by car.
