Legg til bedriftsinformasjonIf you’re seeking a serene spot for rural relaxing, it’d seem a safe bet to go with a place called Domaine en Campagne, five minutes’ drive from the little village of Saint-Christophe (for folk not up on French lingo, the name translates literally as ‘field in the countryside’…)
There’s rather more to this peaceful Poitou-Charentes park than just a field, though: each of the rental tents here has been kitted out with its own water supply and kitchen facilities, and allocated at least 170 square metres of outside space, with outdoor furniture encouraging you to put your feet up by day or gaze up into the starry skies by night. Clean communal bathrooms are a short walk away, with kid-friendly toilets and spacious shower cubicles.
The folk here have packed the place with plenty of leisure facilities too: there’s a small heated pool, a pétanque court and a little library, plus plenty to keep the kids happy: a playground, paddling pool, trampoline and the chance to gather with fellow small guests to toast marshmallows on the campfire every now and then. You can also hire bikes for all ages to get out onto the cycle paths in the surrounds.
Days spent here get off to a good start with breakfast delivered to your tent; they’ll be drawn to a tasty conclusion too, even if you don’t fancy cooking, as the site also has its own restaurant for meals and drinks out on the terrace.

You’ve come along for the countryside outings, oui? Start by stretching your legs on a stroll around the Butte de Frochet nature area (five minutes’ drive), before heading out for a hilly hike in the Monts de Blond (20 minutes) – or a mountain bike ride on the many kilometres of cycle trail.
If you’d like to mix in a bit of history with your hikes, head for the ancient standing stones at Menhir de Ceinturat (10 minutes), or wander around the reconstructed Gallic village of Coriobona (20 minutes) to see ancient crafts and construction in action. A taster of more recent rural life (classrooms, bakeries, farms and the like) can be had on a meander around Montrol-Sénard open-air village museum (10 minutes).
Time for a sit down? Book a ride on the Charente-Limousine Railway from Confolens (25 minutes), or flop down on the beach at Saint-Pardoux Lake (45 minutes), where there’s also a watersports centre and adventure park for folk with energy to burn.
