Families, couples and solo travellers are all warmly welcomed for long lazy holidays, weekend celebrations, short breaks or quick stopovers in this sunny spot of the Vendée, close to heaps of attractions and things to do.
Camping La Vertonne is a top spot for hols of all types, as its setting near the commune of Grosbreuil is a short drive from spectacular sandy beaches at Les Sables d'Olonne and Talmont Saint Hilaire, and around 15 kilometres from the O'Gliss waterpark and Indian Forest theme park. France's famed theme park Puy du Fou, La Rochelle and the island of Normoutier are all within 45 minutes' drive.
The site is run by amiable Marie-Anne and Bernard, who've ensured there's plenty to do for all ages, including playgrounds for ages two to 12, an outdoor pool with paddling pool, and a games room with billiards and table football and darts.
The Vertonne team keep everything lively with the July and August entertainment as well, laying on the likes of dance evenings and karaoke in the bar and on the terrace, at least three times a week in high season (the bar is open daily). Fried mussels and Vendée dinners are available on request.

Take your pick from activities of all flavours within easy driving distance of the site, from sandy Vendée beaches to fably odd attractions like Puy du Fou or the monkeying around of Indian Forest, 15 kilometres away.
Within 25 minutes' drive is the seaside spot of Sables d'Olonne, famed in the Vendée for its lively vibe and three-kilometre beach edged by swish shops and hotels. The Zoo des Sables is also around these parts, as well as a museum of modern and contemporary art, a museum on local traditions and history, and one – also fably odd – dedicated solely to seashells.
More seaside towns, in La Tranche-sur-Mer and Saint Gilles Croix de Vie are within about 45 minutes' drive. Closer to home, Talmont-Saint-Hilaire 10 minutes' drive away is home to a medieval castle with regular events including falconry, as well as a spectacular automobile museum and a marina with hundreds of boats. The town harbour has two 18-hole golf courses nearby.
