Woodend Caravan and Camping Park

Likte: This is our first time camping in several years so choosing a site took a while. We liked the look of this site due to the scenery and remoteness of it.

Upon arriving and check in, we met a gentleman in the foyer (I am not good with names, my apologies). He was very friendly and was welcoming to us. He advised us on the site, the facilities and then went the extra mile to assist us in suggesting places to dine, local shops, etc. After a long drive up (about 10 hours in total), it was enjoyable to come into contact with this host and to finally be able to settle down and put our feet up. Once we parted ways with the host and began camping, we were left on our own which we liked. We knew that help is available by going to the foyer should we need it which is a nice thing to have.

When camping, we found the site to be peaceful and though there are surrounding farms, the noise was minimal and at night time, we couldn’t hear a thing, which surprised us considering there’s lambs at this time of year. Another bonus!

The facilities were excellent too. The toilets were clean, no odours or damage etc. The showers were hot with good pressure and so the stress of getting clean after a day of hiking was alleviated. Make sure you bring a floor towel or mat though as I found it to be a little confined in the room when I needed to get dry and dressed. This didn’t bother me though as the quality of the facilities meant I was able to have a wash in a nice and clean environment. There are hooks on the door which helps a lot.

There is a kitchen with a kettle, toaster, microwave and a refrigerator for use by guests. There are also pay to use laundry machines. Unfortunately we didn’t carry any cash so were unable to try the laundry machines out but it’s good to know these facilities are available should we need them in future. The breakfast bar in the kitchen looks like it would come in handy for group trips and meal preparation. We brought food with us and chose to eat in the tent as we were tired but again, it’s a good facility to have.

In terms of pitching, there are a few electric and water points around the site. We didn’t use them as we had charging facilities already but it’s a good feature to have. There are also recycling bins on the site. There is plenty of level ground to pitch up. The grass is very well kept and free from stones and debris. There wasn’t a single drop of litter anywhere.

I am unable to leave an accurate review for suitability for children as we don’t have any.

As for WiFi, there is none that we could find (which we knew and didn’t expect. We booked with the intention of being mostly remote). However, there is good phone and data signal and I was able to stream a video podcast on YouTube without any issues.

There is a little village about 5 minutes down the road (you will likely pass through it on your way to the site). It has a Spar which is well stocked (and has some hot food options like sausage sandwiches and a hot drinks machine). There’s a chippy, café and a petrol station and so you’re not a million miles away from a store should you need to stock up on supplies. The staff are really nice too.

This site has definitely rekindled our love for camping and we will be visiting again next year. Thank you to the host for your hospitality towards us.

Likte: Great site with stunning views. Great toilet and shower block and had a great kitchen area with seating.
We were in a Motorhome, but this site was great for anyone in a tent.

Likte: Very friendly hosts. Washroom facilities were spotless and the showers were strong and hot. The kitchen area was also very clean, had everything we needed with access to a fridge, freezer and washing machine. We really enjoyed our stay.

Likte: The woman on reception was super friendly as was the gorgeous happy dog peering through the window.

Facilities were great, new and spotless.

The views were amazing.

The walks near by were also fab.

Quiet little gem!

The owner told us to watch out for the northern lights as well as lots of information on places in the local area.

Likte: Friendly helpful check in, parked motor home top of the hill for lovely view of the Loch. Brilliant shower facilities, hot water and very clean. Walked down to the Loch. Site is a lovely location easy to get to even with large motor home, would recommend.

Likte ikke: Not a dislike just an observation, shower room very tight for space. Kitchen area a little basic.

Likte: Everything....views were amazing the site was peaceful and nicely kept. The amenities were lovely, clean and had everything we needed. The hosts were so lovely...helping with local information and took time to make sure everyone had what they needed. Couldn't fault this site
