Voeg je bedrijfsgegevens toeA comfortable base for a surf holiday, a beach break or mountain walks? The glamping tents at Kampaoh Âncora are many things to many people – but what they definitely are for everyone is a well-equipped and convenient place to stay for an outdoor break.
These furnished tents are five minutes’ drive away from the gorgeous surfing beach of Vila Praia de Âncora, and they’re set up ready and waiting for your arrival – with beds made up, towels and a cool box provided, and plenty of space to relax inside and out.
The tents are tucked away in shaded spots in the woods, so they’re kept cool and peaceful but have easy access to all the facilities the bigger campsite has to offer. These include an outdoor pool available for an additional fee (and open on weekends only in June; and between 10.30am and 7pm for the rest of summer), with a kids’ pool and waterslides, a tennis court, a gym, a games area and a lounge area. Kids’ activities run in the summer months as well for a bit of extra entertainment (and to allow parents a bit of ‘me-time’).
Other facilities on site include a restaurant and bar, serving up tasty meals and cool drinks with a chilled soundtrack of background music, a launderette and a shop for snacks and other bits. Three bathroom blocks are dotted around the site, all equipped with hot water.
Spending a whole lot of time on your local beach is usually the main focus of guests here, but you could also head inland for hilly hikes or go a little further along the coast to Viana do Castelo, another beach town with a medieval centre and a peaceful riverfront.

Lokale bezienswaardigheden
Beaches, beaches, beaches… Vila Praia de Âncora (five minutes’ drive) is a popular one – and with good reason, as it’s got splendid soft golden sands and some sizeable waves for the surfers. If you’re not a surfer but would like to become one, have a chat with the team at the surf school on the beach, who can sort lessons and kit hire.
Further along the coast there are more beaches to check out in places like Afife (five minutes) and Moledo (10 minutes), as well as down in Viana do Castelo (20 minutes). If you head down there you should also spend some time following one of the themed trails to see some of its best architecture (Renaissance, Art Deco or tiles are among the themes), visit the Museu do Traje and seek out some local seafood.
Turning inland, local hiking trails might take you to places like Pereiro Waterfall and Sawmill or Cascata do Pincho (both 20 minutes) or for more waterside strolls in the Lagoa da Esturranha hiking area (10 minutes).
