Choose to stay at Glamping Parque Retiro Dos Sonhos and it shouldn't be long until you’re unwinding at golden Algarve beaches, hiking from cove to cove or wandering around the old quarters of handsome Portuguese cities.
Very quiet and dog-friendly, the site is in a green area with plenty of birdsong. At the same time, it’s only 10 minutes’ drive from the coast… the Seven Hanging Valleys coastal trail is 15 minutes’ drive away, at Marinha beach, and Benagil is 20 minutes’ drive away for scenic beaches, limestone cliffs and seafood restaurants, as well as the famed Benagil cave with a gaping ceiling accessible only by boat or paddleboard.
For your self-catering needs, there are supermarkets 10 minutes’ drive away (in Alcantarilha). If you’re not planning to cook, restaurants are five minutes’ drive away from the site. Aqualand Algarve, a big water park, is also only 10 minutes drive away.
There’s a long list of gorgeous spots to tick off from this handy base, from Marinha beach to Silves, once the capital of the Algarve. Both are 15 minutes’ drive away, and the latter, Silves, has a grand hilltop castle. In Portimão, 25 minutes’ drive away, have a proper stroll along the old quarter, stopping only for seafood, ice cream, museums or the Gothic-style church.
On site, the facilities include showers and toilets. Barbecues are welcome, and if you get your timings right you might get to eat just as the sun sets over the surrounding area.

Lokale bezienswaardigheden
For those much-needed beach days, you may want to consider Praia da Rocha Baixinha (35 minutes’ drive), a spacious golden beach with lush cliffs and standalone rock formations. Carvoeiro (20 minutes) is a traditional resort town with yet more sandy beaches, so you should consider yourself quite spoiled for options.
For some manmade attractions and a bit of history, travel to Lagos (40 minutes). The walled old town has an 18th-century church and a gorgeous baroque castle. Down some steps, you'll reach another sandy beach, and if you don’t mind driving, Ponta da Piedade (40 minutes) has gorgeous rock formations and caves a short drive away from Lagos.
Faro (45 minutes) is another worthwhile day trip. The old town’s cobbled streets centre around a 13th-century cathedral, and there are of course plenty of restaurants where you can sink your teeth into tasty local seafood and other dishes.
