Keen to see the River Loire on your trip to the Loiret area? Well, you’ll be able to take in river views without even moving from your pitch when you stay at Camping Onlycamp Le Port – this peaceful site is in a gorgeous green right on the banks of the Loire, just outside the small town of Saint-Benoît-sur-Loire. Settling by the river really is rather relaxing, and it’s probably pretty tempting simply to put your feet up and gaze out over the water for most of your break here. You’re very welcome to do so, of course, but if you’d like to explore further there are plenty of ways to do just that – starting with bike rides along the EuroVelo 6 cycle path (aka the Loire à Vélo cycle path), which passes by the site. The full route is quite an epic challenge, but even short rides will give you the chance to see some splendid watery scenery. The local area also has some nice places to walk, or to launch canoes or kayaks for a paddle along the river. Throw in castle visits, boat trips, adventure parks, swimming lakes and markets full of local produce and you’ve got the makings of an excellent place for a holiday, whatever your interests. Back on site, you’ll be staying on quiet pitches shaded by trees and with access to essential facilities including a launderette, a chemical disposal point and bathrooms with toilets, showers and disabled access. A play area and pétanque court are also on hand for a bit of gentle entertainment.

  • Op deze camping zijn hondenrassen/kruisingen die in de 'lijst met hoog-risico honden op agressief gedrag' zijn opgenomen, niet toegestaan (zoals de pitbullterriër, tosa, Argentijnse dog en fila brasileiro). Ook de volgende rassen zijn niet welkom: de staffordshire-bulterriër, Amerikaanse staffordshireterriër, rottweiler en mastiff.

Once you’ve admired the Loire from the comfort of your pitch, set out to see some more of it – perhaps by riding bikes on a section of the Loire à Vélo cycle path, hiring kayaks for a paddle (10 minutes’ drive) or relaxing on a traditional boat trip with Passeurs de Loire (15 minutes). You could also explore some of the river’s grand buildings – Château de Sully-sur-Loire (10 minutes) is a local favourite – or learn a bit about the river’s heritage at Musée de la Marine de Loire (10 minutes). Other cultural outings nearby might take you to the Musée du cirque et de l’illusion (20 minutes) or for a wander around Orléans (40 minutes). And don’t forget that it’s an easy 15-minute walk from the site to Fleury Abbey, one of Europe’s most celebrated Benedictine monasteries. For more family days out, get speedy at Karting 45 (five minutes), tackle treetop adventures at Familly Park (25 minutes) or head to the lake beach at Étang du Puits (35 minutes) for swimming, fishing and watersports.
