If you’ve ever felt like escaping from everyday life and running off to hide away in the woods for a while… well, here’s a place where you can do that in quite some style.
The gorgeous glamping units at Le Domaine des Roches’L are each tucked away in their own secluded corner of a 35-acre property made up of woodlands and meadows. This Côtes-d’Armor site is about five minutes’ drive from the village of Gomené and it’s a fabulous place to settle down for a few days of rest and relaxation in the Brittany countryside.
Book a break here and you’ll be in a very handy spot for all sorts of Brittany days out, including walks in the Brocéliande Forest, watersports at Lake Guerlédan or time spent wandering around Rennes, Vannes and Lorient.
Despite all the options for day trips, you may well find it tricky to make it off site. Perhaps you’ll sign up for a massage on site, spend some time bubbling away in your hot tub (cleverly covered so you can use it all year round) or simply settle down with a cup of coffee on the sofa to look out of the window at the trees swaying in the breeze…
If you do choose to hide away here for the duration, it’s handy to know that you can really make yourselves comfortable while doing so – each glamping unit has its own ensuite bathroom, heating and a TV, plus a kitchen area with fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle and coffee maker. All bed linen and towels are provided, along with luxury extras like gowns and slippers for getting to your hot tub.

Lokale bezienswaardigheden
Brittany has much to explore, so it’s well worth getting out and about a few times while you’re here. A good place to start is the Brocéliande Forest (35 minutes’ drive) where you can take guided or self-guided hikes through the woods and moors to learn about the legends of Merlin the wizard, Lancelot the knight and Vivien the fairy or stop at Comper Castle to visit the Arthurian Centre and walk along scenic trails.
There’s a lovely lake at Comper, but if you want to take to the water you’ll need to go to Lake Guerlédan (40 minutes), which has paddleboarding, kayaking and a wild swimming area (dips being particularly welcome after a walk round the lake).
Although the rural landscapes are lovely, there are some excellent towns around for urban wanders as well. The half-timbered houses of Rennes, the towers of Vannes and the maritime town of Lorient are all around an hour’s drive away and worth a day out.
