Ever dreamt of having access to a private beach? Then you'll need to book a break at Bach Wen. On the Gwynedd coast just outside the village of Clynnog-Fawr, this secluded seaside spot will make that idea a reality. It’s just the place for relaxing holidays, with plenty of space for all guests to spread out, and a sizeable paddock for kids and dogs to scamper about. And yes indeed, its own beach area too – simply follow the stream to get to the sands for days of swimming, kayaking, fishing or hikes along the coast path. Spot the sea while on site too if you prefer to stay put – the views are particularly stunning at sunset, and even better again with a cold beer or glass of wine in hand from the on-site bar (you’ll just need to arrange this a little bit in advance to make sure someone’s around to do the pouring honours). Those of you who’d rather pick up your own food and potions, there’s a little supermarket five minutes’ walk away in the village. Those cold drinks may well be much welcomed by those aiming to pack plenty of activity into their break here – this location at the top of the Llŷn Peninsula means that there’s much to explore nearby. Head into the nearby Snowdonia National Park for hikes, mountain biking and an adventure park, soak up the history of Caernarfon, 20 minutes’ drive away, or bounce around the numerous beaches of the peninsula.

Ik was blij met: Lovely stay!
Enjoyed a beer in the bar on the Friday and the food looked amazing.
All facilities clean and good standard.
Little one loved the park.
Loads of space for kids to run around and bits to explore.

Burdock campingpod

Ik was blij met: Loved Everything, loved the cabin, loved the beach, loved the peace and quiet. My son my dog and me had the best time.
Can’t thank the owner enough for helping me out with a mallet also :)

Burdock campingpod

Ik was blij met: Everything was amazing, friendly welcome, great facilities. The pod had everything we needed. Access to the beach was simple and we got very lucky with the weather. The fireside tools provided were a welcome addition.

Burdock campingpod

Ik was blij met: Absolutely stunning stayed in the berdock pod lovely views nice log fire for a cold January. Nice and clean everything we needed and dogs loved it. Easy access to beach and loved the steps and bent tree trunk as our entrance with the little stream. Staff approachable and lovely all facilities clean and tidy. Would defo be visiting again!! Nice relaxing break for two nights.

Ik was niet zo blij met: Quite isolated to local shops but if you bring all your essentials no need to bother which we did.

Dandelion campingpod

Ik was blij met: Very nice location. The views are spectacular! I stayed in the camping pods and it was warm especially in the wet weather!

Beach is a stones throw away. Great for walks with the dog. Fire pit in the "garden area" which was great for the evenings.

Ik was niet zo blij met: Really it's on the other guestsn not the site...Not too keen on the dogs running free around the site. I arrived and the first task was picking up another dog's poop!

The shared areas were a little grubby as the shower trays were muddy and sandy etc.

Feedback for the pods would be to clear out the pods and give them a good deep clean. On arrival I moved the wooden crate and it was very dusty with an old empty condom wrapper!

Ik was blij met: The sea side location is stunning

Ik was niet zo blij met: No personal reception. We didn’t like the set-up and decided not to stay here whilst we had paid the full charge for two days. Nobody even contacted us. The Hut looked poor and overly used. No chance to site our Landy with rooftent adjacent to the Hut.

Ik was blij met: I couldn't recommend this campsite enough. We stayed on the glade pitch which was completely remote from the other pitches with a sheep field on one side and a brook on the other (although it being August meant there was no water running through it).
We were a 30 second walk to the beach front which is pretty much only accessable from the campsite so we never saw anyone else on it.
The owner is very friendly, making sure to welcome everyone onto site and check up with them regularly.
The most peaceful campsite we have been to and in such a beautiful location. We will definitely be returning.

Ik was niet zo blij met: The glade pitch is not accessible by car so we had to lug all of our camping bits down via wheel barrows (which we were aware of before arriving) but so worth it for the peaceful remote location. I would suggest a few more wheelbarrows though as some of the other campers had not put them back which meant we had to carry all of our stuff back to the car without a wheelbarrow

Lokale bezienswaardigheden

It’s quiet at the nearby Trefor beach (10 minutes' drive) and that’s part of what makes it such a fine spot for sea fishing. You might get hooked on all sorts of watersports locally too, particularly in Abersoch (half an hour), where surfing and wakeboarding are some of the ways to get your hair wet, or the 'Whistling Sands' at Porthor beach (45 minutes), which has fab surfing conditions. Away from the sand, first-timers could put their balance to the test with a lesson on the surf lagoon at Adventure Parc Snowdonia (an hour) too. Of course, there are all sorts of other activities all around the Snowdonia National Park (20 minutes), so when you’re looking for a way to wind things down, perhaps with a lighter walk, you could take in the turrets of Caernarfon Castle (20 minutes) or the smaller Bryn Bras Castle (20 minutes). Back to the coast, though, fishing villages are a fancy way to spend the way pottering around the shore. Porthdinllaen (20 minutes) has a beach and the popular Tŷ Coch Inn, while Portmeirion (half an hour) is modelled on Italian architecture, with sub-tropical gardens and a splendid spa, shops and eateries.
