Hunting for a peaceful and secluded Somerset spot with a backdrop fit for a postcard? Stay at Wimbleball Holidays, 20 minutes' drive from Dulverton, and you can wake up to sublime views of Wimbleball Lake, a mere 50 metres away. The location is spot on if you fancy trying your hand at a range of watersports, including kayaking, canoeing, rowing, sailing and windsurfing. Walking, cycling, birdwatching and fishing are also popular picks if you’d rather appreciate the lake views while sticking to dry land. More? A 10-minute stroll along the shore of the lake will take you to the impressive Wimbleball Dam. This peaceful park is within Exmoor National Park, so think moorland, woodland and wildlife… and plenty of ways to explore it all. The area's also famed for its stargazing (it was Europe's first Dark Sky Reserve, no less), so come prepped to stay up late and turn sights skywards on a clear night. The site is on a working family farm and at certain times of year visitors are welcome to get involved with the running of it, with shearing to be done and lambs to be fed (go on – you know you want to have a go…). There are a couple of village pubs around two miles from the site but if you can’t tear yourself away from the views, barbecues and campfires are permitted on site. As for facilities, a washing-up area, toilets and showers are available on site.

Ik was blij met Brian was so welcoming, and an absolute lifesaver when our tent’s pump broke. He is an absolute gem. He entertained our children with bubbles and a quad bike ride or two.
The location is great for walks around the lake and to explore Exmoor.
A beautiful, quiet setting for a peaceful stay.

Ik was blij met Very well kept site, very clean showers and toilets, lovely hot and powerful showers. Use of freezer and fridge very helpful. The owners were very kind and helpful, really nice people. Loved the bubbles too!!! Literally a short path from the site brings you out to the lake, stunning views and very enjoyable walks. We loved having the fire pit and it was very reasonable £2 a day and £8 for a huge bag of wood, kindling and fire lighters. An absolute gem of a place and brilliant for water sports which we didn't do this time but would bring our paddle board next time. Loved watching the bats flying overhead at dusk and even though it was a bit cloudy, we had some stars!

Ik was blij met Lovely campsite, highly recommended! Only 6 pitches so small and friendly, clean facilities. Great location for walks and the activity centre. Thank you Brian we had a lovely stay.

Ik was blij met Very remote and quiet campsite. Ideally located if you like walking or watersports.
Brian is super welcoming and makes you feel comfortable straight away (he’s very good with kids too!). He’ll give you plenty of tips about what to do in the area.
The facilities are very well kept and include 3 toilets, 2 showers, and 2 dishwashing sinks... all of these for only 6 pitches! There’s also a freezer, fridge, and kettle for extra comfort.
Pitch sizes ensure privacy. Very close walking distance to the lake (2 min), dam (10 min), and activity centre (10 min).

Ik was blij met We had a great time at Wimbleball holidays this weekend. It's right next to the most beautiful lake where we spent the day paddle boarding (you need to buy a self launch pass from SW lakes which was £20 for 2 people for the day but definitely worth it). The facilities on site were ideal (shower, toilets, fridge, freezer, washing up facilities) which were all nearby no matter where you pitch your tent. It's only a small site but still private and peaceful, with lots of beautiful plants and animals (we saw a baby rabbit one day!) And the owners are friendly and really helpful. 100% will return!

Ik was blij met Everything from the amazing location to the friendliness of our host Brian. He made us feel very welcome from the first minute, provided lots of fun with bubbles and quad bike rides for my 7 yo son! The location by the lake is ideal and the facilities were clean. Hot and powerful showers and the use of the fridge were definite bonus! An address to remember for sure!

Ik was blij met The host was very helpful and friendly. The camping field and facilities where all well kept, and very peaceful. The sky on a cloud free night is amazing. Easy access to the path around the lake, dam, and other delightful exmoor walks.

Ik was blij met Beautiful place, it was raining when we stayed but it was lovely still. The bathrooms, and kitchens were very tidy. We enjoyed our stay, and hoping to get back next year so my brother can go fishing. 😊

When the satnav tells you that 'you have reached your destination', keep on going to the end of the road (bear left at the fork) and it’s the first house on the right with an arch over the gate.

Lokale bezienswaardigheden

There's direct access to Wimbleball Lake and its surrounding cycle path from the site, so you don’t have to go far for things to do… just up and go. The lake’s activity centre is less than a mile away; here you can get to grips with a host of activities on water and land, and there’s a high ropes course to tackle too. Swap the lake for the seafront if you’d rather, as Somerset’s beaches – including Minehead – are around half an hour's drive away. If you’re heading to Minehead and feel like seeking out a bit of history, Dunster village is about five minutes from there, for a wander around Dunster Castle, Conygar Tower and a working watermill. For family-friendly adventures, it’s all aboard the West Somerset Railway for a ride on a steam train (10 minutes away by car) or off to meet the ponies at Exmoor Pony Centre (half an hour). 40 minutes in the car will take you to the county town of Taunton for an array of high street and independent shops to keep shopaholics busy – historic Bath Place is a good spot to start with if you're partial to picking up bits in independent shops.
