Cumbria’s a cracker of a place for a hol, and the Inn at the Bush is a convenient site for a stopover when roving the region in your motorhome or campervan. Park up here next to the pub, bar and restaurant for fuss-free access to food, drink and the Solway Coast. The park is on the eastern edge of this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, under 10 minutes’ drive from Bowness-on-Solway and 25 minutes west of Carlisle. Twitching type? You’ll be chuffed to know it’s also set close to the Solway Firth and the Solway Wetlands’ birdwatching haven. While the whole area may sound a little marshy, there are no worries about getting stuck in the mud while at this site: pitches are on ground that has never been flooded and a slight incline means water runs off the land so you can be confident of always being dry. This park is a simple spot, but you’ll have access to the essentials on the grounds, including toilets, showers, water taps and internet. It’s also family-, dog- and motorbiker-friendly, with four-legged creatures permitted in the pub if you’re planning on dining there.

  • Op deze camping zijn hondenrassen/kruisingen die in de 'lijst met hoog-risico honden op agressief gedrag' zijn opgenomen, niet toegestaan. Denk aan de pitbullterriër en tosa, Argentijnse dog en fila brasileiro.
  • Auto's/motoren zijn niet toegestaan op de staplaats/bij de accommodatie. Deze moeten worden geparkeerd op de daarvoor bestemde plekken.
  • Er is geen receptie ter plaatse: neem bij aankomst contact op met het nummer dat in de reserveringsbevestiging vermeld staat.
  • The pub and toilet/shower facilities are open from 5pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays, 3pm on Fridays and Saturdays and 12pm on Sundays.

Ik was blij met: Steve was a great host explained where everything was on our arrival then left us too it . Level area to park in the car park . Shower, toilet , and Elsan clean and easy to access.
Fresh Water available.
It is as it says a car park of a pub .
We did not go into the pub but it was busy and it has great reviews for the food .
Pub was closed and everyone gone by 10.30

Ik was blij met: Small site for campervan, basic but clean 24hr toilets and shower facilities ,good location for visiting area.friendly staff in onsite pub. Food in pub outstanding. Would definitely stay again if visiting area

Ik was blij met: Proximity to the pub, which serves great food, is dog friendly and very welcoming. Basic, but perfectly adequate, facilities. We didn’t use the shower, but it was there!

Ik was blij met: Convenient stop on route to Scotland, its basically parking up in the pub car park.
Really nice landlord very welcoming, handy having food at the pub.

Ik was blij met: An excellent value campsite, with amazing hospitality. There was loads of covered outdoor spaces with seating, ideal for camping in bad weather. Has a nice, clean, hot shower. The camping area is behind the pub, it is flat, well maintained and has plenty of picnic benches to use.
A great place for a quiet stop over on the way to Scotland.

Contrary to the listing info on pitch up, the toilets are always open and the key for the shower are available from 6:30am onwards.

Ik was blij met: Friendly helpful staff.

Ik was niet zo blij met: The steps from camping field are unlit, very steep, with no hand rail.
It's a case of "when not if" someone falls down them at night (or day) to get to the toilet.
High bar prices e.g. £5.75 for a can, yes a can, of Guinness. Best part of £20 for 4 pints of larger.

If you’re a keen birdwatcher, make the Solway Wetlands Centre at RSPB Campfield Marsh (within 15 minutes’ drive) your first stop for explores of the wildlife-rich wetlands and grasslands. And if you’re more of a hiker or a history fan? Get to the start of Hadrian’s Wall at Bowness-on-Solway (10 minutes) or access it just outside Wigton (five minutes) for walks beside this Roman-era structure. If you fancy making a foray a little further afield, cross the Scottish border to Gretna Green (half an hour) to see the spot where countless illicit marriages have taken place. The Lake District National Park is a little closer by (25 minutes) for jaunts around the fells and tarns; make sure to visit one of the most popular places in the area, Keswick (45 minutes), for especially stunning views. And if you feel like your trip to Cumbria needs some time by the beach? Set off for Silloth (25 minutes) and take a few hours out of your afternoon investigating this typically northern Victorian seaside resort. Backed by the Lake District’s fells and a fave of the artist Turner, it’s known for its spectacular sunsets.
