Ik was blij met: The views looking towards Wasdale were beautiful! It’s such a lovely place with great facilities and Cathryn and family were lovely and friendly! We even got to help with feeding the lambs, which were very cute! Loved all the cats too, one in particular was very friendly!

Ik was niet zo blij met: A group had booked and were a bit noisy and messy, it didn’t spoil our stay but just felt they were inconsiderate as like I said Cathryn is lovely and works hard to keep the site looking nice.

Van de manager: Thank you for your review. I did not realise when they booked that there were three vans who knew each other as friends arriving on the Saturday. I asked that they kept the noise down and they replied they were climbing Scafell next day and said they were having an early night to get up to travel up the Wasdale valley. Obviously they did not keep the noise down and left rubbish outside the showerblock and items inside too.
I will not be accepting bookings from them in future.
Nice to see Mopsy made herself known to you, she is one of my favorite cats.

Ik was niet zo blij met: A group had booked. The noise, vile language and inconsiderate behaviour spoilt my stay.
Expensive for the facilities on offer

Van de manager: You booked the only remaining pitch which is for XL motor Homes and therefore charged out at the dearest rate. The facilities are on a par if not better than others close by with hot showers, hair driers, towels and bath mats provided at no extra cost.
I sent you an e mail apologising for the other guests behavior, I had asked them to keep the noise down on my last look around the site and they assured me they were having an early night, obviously not as you left after being disturbed in the middle of the night.
I did not realise all three vans were known to each other as they booked seperately, I have never had a problem like this before.
I am placing a notice on the end of the shower Block asking guests to keep the noise down and be considerate to others otherwise they may be asked to leave the site, this will have both mine and my husbands phone numbers displayed for people to contact us at any time even though contact numbers are available in the welcome booklet.
I really wish you had phoned me even though it was the middle of the night as I could have deal with the problem and asked them to leave.
If you do reconsider staying again please book early as your vehicle would have been suitable to park up on a campervan pitch at a much reduced rate.

Ik was blij met: Lovely campsite, friendly and welcoming owner, good facilities, great views from the campsite. Would highly recommend.

Hopefully when Fibrus put in their cabling we will have a better signal on site.

Ik was niet zo blij met: The food in the pub was very bad, not the campsites fault. Try the pizza restraint across the road. The campsite was perfect for our needs.

Van de manager: Thank you for leaving a review. I presume you had pizza from the pub, The wild Olive Italian Restaurant also provide pizza in the restaurant and for take away a bit dearer than the pub. Maybe the pub had an off day.

Ik was blij met: Everything! The pitches are off the back of a working farm, which was very authentic and well-run. The farmer very kindly gave us a tour and let our children hold a lamb! The animals were very well cared for, too. The pitches themselves were a little hilly(!), but not an issue once parked up. The views were stunning!! So peaceful and remote. There was a little Wendy house and lots of little toys for our children to play with - they were delighted! The farmers’ pets (cats and a sheep dog) were very friendly, and roam freely on the farm, which we loved! But just an FYI as it’s not everybody’s cup of tea.

Ik was niet zo blij met: There was a fair bit of cat/dog poo on the grassy parts of the pitches. Our children spotted it and dodged, but just not ideal for lots of reasons.

Van de manager: Sorry about the poo. I do walk around the site to try and ensure none is around. Hopefully now I'm turning over the garden our cats will appreciate the easy digging and not leave evidence in the glamping paddock.
Our dog usually goes in a private place in the farmyard in the morning so it may not have been her. I do allow guests to bring their dogs and expect that they pick up after them, even supplying dog poo bags in the shower-block. I will be more vigilant in future.

Ik was blij met: Lovely welcome from the owner, helped us back into the pitch which was a little bit tricky in the dark. Basic but adequate facilities and very clean.
Beautiful location next to a working farm with lots of animals and more cats than I’ve ever seen in my life!!

Van de manager: If too smaller a site is booked for a vehicle then they be on a slight slope. Camper-van VW size fit on 28 pound pitches. Motor-homes on 30 pound pitches. Extra large or long wheel based Motor-homes on 35 pound pitch.
Only extras chargeable are for tents, awnings can be put up free of charge, although Harter is difficult as it is slopped grass to the side. People have managed to put awnings up on all our pitches it takes time to position your vehicle correctly.
Arriving late when it is dark can be hard to back into pitches as we have minimal lighting on site.
