When you fancy a walk from the shepherd’s hut at Guards Farm Hidden Huts, you’ll face a choice – should you take the short five-minute stroll out to the local beach, or turn the other way for an equally lovely wander on the moors? If that sounds like the sort of dilemma you could probably cope with, plot a stay at this cosy and luxurious adults-only glamping hut in the Cumbria countryside about five minutes’ drive south of Kirkby-in-Furness. Although kids aren’t allowed here, dogs are very welcome. As well as having a couple of lovely places within walking distance, this location is also handily placed for jaunts into the Lake District National Park – the southern edge of the park is about 15 minutes’ drive away for walks and other outdoor activities. The town of Ulverston is handily also about 15 minutes’ drive away for shops, pubs and places to eat. Before you do any of that, of course, you’ll have to manage to get yourselves off site – and that could well prove to be tricky, as it’s very easy to feel settled here. For starters, this is a working farm so you’ll have a whole lot of livestock to greet before you go anywhere. And you’ll also no doubt have to dedicate some time to looking out of the window at the stunning views. The hut’s setup is equally enticing – it’s got a kingsize bed, a sofa and a TV for chillout time, an ensuite bathroom and a well-equipped kitchen (with a fridge, induction hob and handcrafted solid oak worktop). Outside, there’s a seating area with firepit and griddle, and the crowning glory: a gorgeous wood-fired hot tub.

Ik was blij met Everything about our stay was perfect! Emma and Paul were extremely helpful with anything we needed and also decorated the hut beautifully for my birthday! Super relaxing and peaceful. Our dog Maggie also had the best time with the hut being nice and dog friendly!

Ik was blij met Guards Farm Hidden Hut is beautifully furnished with an enormous comfy bed. So much thought has been put into it and it has everything you could want. It is in its own private fenced off area, so is secure for dogs. We spend our evenings in the hot tub gazing at the stars and cooked our tea over the fire pit. Emma and Paul are so warm and friendly and even showed us round the farm. The views are stunning and it is so peaceful We will definitely be back.

Ik was blij met The hut was absaloutly Beautiful out of this world. Very very clean and attention to detail was amazing! Everything you need in there. Secure Garden for the dog.. Lovely owners very helpful and location was perfect for exploring the Lakes..we will be back!! Amazing!!!!

Ik was blij met Beautiful surroundings and very peaceful looking out at sheep, cows and the cheeky goats.
Was made to feel so welcome and nothing was too much trouble for us.
The hut was perfect with everything on hand. Clean,cosy and comfortable.
The hot tub was amazing and looked over the beautiful countryside and view of the beach.
Our dog was made welcome and he loved that he could roam in our own area fenced off although he could not understand why the cows were not playing with him.
The beach was out of this world and went on for miles, one day it was just us walking on it.

Ik was blij met Me, my partner and our Frenchie stayed here mid September for 4 nights.
The hut is an absolute delight. The location was perfect for us to visit a few lakes. The cleanliness was great and it is equipped with everything you could possibly need and the icing on the cake was the wonderful hospitality of Emma & Paul, they couldn't do enough for us.
We was a bit unfortunate with the weather for a couple of days but the beauty of the hut, the hot tub and its picturesque surroundings totally took the edge off of that for us. So despite the weather we had an amazing stay and we are planning to return in the future to do some more exploring of the lakes.

Ik was blij met Everything! Could not fault it at all. The hut is amazing and has everything you need. It’s beautifully decorated and designed well. The views from the hot tub and the hut are breathtaking. It’s only a short walk to a beautiful and quiet beach. Easy access to any part of the lakes. The site is beautiful and clean. Great for dogs too. The owners are so lovely and are so helpful. I cannot recommend this place enough. We will definitely be back. Thank you Emma and Paul for a lovely weekend 🥰

Ik was blij met Absolutely amazing 4 nights away in this beautiful hut. The location and standard is unmatched compared to any that we have previously stayed in. It provides the perfect combination of relaxation and the ability to explore the Lakes! The lovely hosts not only prepare the accommodation perfectly, they are also extremely welcoming and will go above and beyond to ensure that you enjoy your stay, and the little touches / finer details really do make this a special place. We also really appreciated the information booklet and their personal recommendations of the area, as it helped us navigate how to best spend our time! We will 100% be booking again!

Ik was blij met This beautiful hut has exceeded our expectations. Emma and Paul have been excellent hosts, even helping with our itinerary - I highly recommend the Coniston waterfall hike!

The secluded and very private hut is just a short walk away from the beach, Emma recommended walking up cliff where you can get gorgeous views.

Do not hesitate in booking this hut, our weekend has been nothing short of impeccable! 🩷

Lokale bezienswaardigheden

This location may technically be just outside the Lake District National Park but it shares many of the same landscape features without having quite as many visitors. Close by you can wander straight out onto the moors, walk to the sands of Dunnerholme beach (about five minutes’ walk) or get your clubs in the car for a round at Dunnerholme Golf Club (10 minutes’ drive). Looking a little further afield, you can explore the wilds of Sandscale Haws Nature Reserve (10 minutes) or South Walney Nature Reserve (35 minutes), or head to Ulverston (15 minutes) for a wander along the canal towpath. And of course there’s the Lake District National Park, where you might choose to head to Coniston Water (20 minutes), ride the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway (25 minutes), visit Grizedale Forest (35 minutes) for the mountain bike trails, outdoor sculptures and Go Ape course, or find one of the multitude of scenic walking trails.
