A whole lot of luxury and a warm North Yorkshire welcome all rolled into one – that’s the vibe at Roseacre Retreat, a small glamping site in an enviable rural location overlooking the Cleveland Hills. The location and scenery would be enough to give this place a real relaxed atmosphere, but it’s been boosted with an extra dose of peace from the fact that this site is an adults-only setup – just the thing for a countryside getaway with your significant other or best pal. Owners Mick and Natalie have really gone to town with the luxury elements in the pods here, kitting each one out with underfloor heating, an ensuite bathroom and a well-equipped kitchenette (with two-ring hob, microwave and fridge). Pods have a sofa bed and a comfy double bed, with all towels and bedding provided to lighten the load when packing. It’s likely that you’ll eat rather well while you’re at Roseacre, particularly if you boost your booking with tasty extras like breakfast packs, deli boxes and afternoon tea boxes, all packed with fabulous local produce. For other bits and bobs there’s an excellent farm shop 10 minutes’ drive away and more shops in Northallerton, 20 minutes’ drive away. Whatever you choose to eat, it’s surely best served up at the table in your own private outdoor area – a space that’s made even better if you hire a firepit to keep you warm while you gaze out at the views (or up into the stars overhead). Developing an appetite for all these treats shouldn’t be difficult, particularly if you spend your days hiking in the nearby North York Moors National Park or taking seaside strolls along the coastline.

Ik was blij met: Honestly we loved everything.
Natalie was so easy to communicate with, adding banners and balloons and contacting Natalie after booking to add things on, nothing was a problem. We were welcomed as we got there, the pod itself was decorated beautifully, very clean and tidy and everything has been thought of. We loved how everything was from local small businesses, being small business owners ourselves. We couldn't have had a nicer night away, very peaceful and lovely surroundings.
The milkshakes were a great touch, we visited the milkshake farm after we checked out to bring some home with us, we did forget the fresh eggs from the honesty box at roseacre which we need to try next time.
We will absolutely be back again!

Ik was blij met: Natalie was a great host so friendly and made us feel so welcome and the few little extra touches made a difference . The pod was immaculate with robes ,milk and milkshakes in the fridge. And condiments provided. The bed was so comfy ,bathroom spotless.

Ik was niet zo blij met: The wi-fi was very poor , which meant we couldnt watch what we wanted. However Natalie did provide us with another router to see if that help but unfortunately it didn't work.

Ik was blij met: Wow what a fab location to chill, gorgeous views, very peaceful. We stayed in The Hornby pod, it was perfect, had literally everything you need, very clean and the complimentary milkshakes were a lovely touch. We ordered the afternoon tea for 2 and a breakfast pack as extras and were not disappointed. Lovely welcoming hosts.

The North York Moors National Park is a good place to start, for walks around sites like Mount Grace Priory, House and Gardens (15 minutes’ drive), Roseberry Topping (35 minutes) or the Wainstones (40 minutes). Got more energy left still? How about heading west to the Yorkshire Dales National Park and a wander to Aysgarth Falls – or east to the coast and a stroll around the cobbled streets of Staithes (both 50 minutes)? When it’s time for a rest, you may like to sign up for a gentler day with an alpaca experience at Leven Valley Alpacas (10 minutes), or take a distillery tour at Masons of Yorkshire (half an hour).
