There’s plenty of rural peace available at Wind in the Willows Glamping – and there are plenty of little luxuries too, making this a nifty spot for a comfortable countryside break with your other half or the family.
This small-scale site is a family-run business in the Norfolk Fens, close to the Cambridgeshire border and about 15 minutes’ drive from both Wisbech and Downham Market. It’s a peaceful spot indeed, surrounded by open fields and with plenty of woodland walks around (keep your eyes peeled for wildlife, as wild rabbits, hares, pheasants and muntjac deer are often spotted around here).
Accommodation here is in wooden camping pods that all have heating and insulation so they stay cosy whatever the weather has in store. Each pod sleeps two adults and two children, or three adults (in a kingsize bed and a double futon) and you’ll be allowed to bring one dog along too if you like. Everything’s designed to make life nice and easy – beds are made up ready for arrival, and there’s an ensuite bathroom inside each pod, plus a kettle, fridge and tea/coffee making supplies so you can get stuck into a hot drink as soon as you arrive.
It may be that you’re after some proper relaxation time – and if so, you might like to explore the options over at the spa, which has a hot tub, an ice bath and a sauna for a wellness experience. Meanwhile, if you’re more of an active sort you can sign up for fitness classes and personal training sessions on site (please note an extra charge is payable for spa and fitness activities).

Minderjarigen (18-) dienen te worden vergezeld door een ouder en/of officiële voogd.- Op deze camping zijn hondenrassen/kruisingen die in de 'lijst met hoog-risico honden op agressief gedrag' zijn opgenomen, niet toegestaan. Denk aan de pitbullterriër en tosa, Argentijnse dog en fila brasileiro.
- Voor sommige faciliteiten en/of activiteiten, zoals Gym/Fitness and Spa (hot tub, ice bath and sauna), gelden extra kosten, die bij aankomst betaald dienen te worden.
- Er zijn geen vuilnisbakken ter plaatse: alle afval moet mee naar huis worden genomen.
- Er is geen receptie ter plaatse: neem bij aankomst contact op met het nummer dat in de reserveringsbevestiging vermeld staat.
- Er mogen voor Pods geen reserveringen worden gemaakt voor meer dan 14 aaneengesloten nachten.

Add some animal encounters to the mix too, with outings to see the wildfowl at WWT Welney (15 minutes), the farm animals at Church Farm - Stow Bardolph (20 minutes) and the big birds at Fens Falconry (half an hour).
If country estate visits are more your style, start local with a trip to National Trust - Peckover House and Garden (25 minutes) or discover a location that’s fit for royalty with an outing to the Sandringham Estate (45 minutes). Denver Windmill (15 minutes) is worth a visit if you’re into intriguing architecture, as are the cathedral and Stained Glass Museum in Ely (25 minutes).
If you’re staying local, places like Skylark Maize Maze & Funyard (15 minutes) or Grey Goose Archery and Axes (25 minutes) can provide more entertainment; if you don't mind a longer drive, you can get to either Cambridge or Hunstanton beach within an hour.
