Rural roams are firmly on the agenda at Hanworth Country Park, a serene site dotted with pretty paths and six lakes around 15 minutes’ drive from Lincoln. And angling’s on the cards too – four of the bodies of water here, stocked with mirror carp, common carp, chub, barbel, ide, perch, roach and tench, are open for fishing. There’s also a café-bar to order takeaway food and drink (with a handful of tables if you fancy eating in). Travelling with the tiddlers? Let them roam free in the play area. Animals are also often seen scampering around the park, especially around the lakes and woodland: think buzzards, red kites, woodpeckers and kestrels, as well as brown hares, squirrels, hedgehogs and deer. Attempt to catch a glimpse of these critters while roving along routes through the country park, either on foot or by bike; a favourite trails is the famed Lincolnshire Spires and Steeples path, which runs through the park and ends up at Lincoln Cathedral. Closer by is the village of Potterhanworth (10 minutes’ walk), a peaceful place with a handful of amenities including a large playing field with a play park, a skateboard park and tennis courts. A pub’s in the centre of the village – handy for evening drinks – and there’s a bus stop plying the Lincoln to Sleaford and Lincoln to Boston routes for explores via public transport. Surrounding villages such as Metheringham, Branston, Heighington and Washingborough are all within five miles and have conveniences like food shops, inn, takeaways, cafés, butchers and post offices.

  • Voor sommige faciliteiten en/of activiteiten, zoals Fishing, gelden extra kosten, die bij aankomst betaald dienen te worden.
  • Minstens één lid van het gezelschap dient 18 of ouder te zijn.
  • Onderkomens die langer zijn dan 9 meter, zijn niet toegestaan.
  • Het wordt gasten geadviseerd om een zaklantaarn van goede kwaliteit mee te nemen, omdat delen van het terrein onverlicht zijn.
  • Zwemmen in het meer is niet toegestaan.
  • Reception opening times: Monday - Saturday 9am - 5pm. Closed Sunday. There is a train track near the site with trains running through the night, so guests may experience associated noise.

Ik was blij met: Welcome, communication, walks, helpful staff, size of pitches, on site cafe / bar, possibility to kayak, tranquility, disabled shower room

Ik was niet zo blij met: Not exactly a dislike but it would be useful had the reception sold milk and eggs and bread. Poor free wifi

Ik was blij met: The park was lovely and clean and tidy and the staff were excellent especially in the restaurant even though they were under pressure. The staff were very informative about walks and cycle tracks.

Ik was niet zo blij met: The toilets and showers were not very clean and could do with getting rid of the shower curtains although they were extremely warm. Water was red hot one minute and freezing the next. Did not bother us as used our own after that.

Ik was blij met: Love this site. It was quite busy compared to when we stayed previously, but it was Easter Weekend.
Great that they now do water activities even though I didn’t try them. It’s far too cold for me still!
It was nice to see all the efforts to bring people to the site with bouncy castles and Easter egg hunts.
Staff were lovely.

Ik was niet zo blij met: The men’s shower block needs some attention - there is nowhere to hang anything to keep things from getting wet. Very cramped area and ended up having to stand in a puddle of water to change as the curtains didn’t stop the water

Ik was blij met: Beautifully presented on every level - the site, cage reception, grounds, playground and facilities.

Facilities were absolutely spot on.

Cafe lovely with great menu.

The reception staff were lovely and so helpful

Ik was blij met: What’s not to like this campsite is SUPERB! The staff are excellent..friendly and accommodating. The site is spotless and the fishing lakes are an added bonus. The wildlife around the site is fabulous and love to hear the geese….chatting away! We really enjoyed our first stay here and have booked again for July.

Ik was niet zo blij met: The only downside maybe for some but not for us was the WiFi. You have to pay for this and the service was intermittent but it’s not a priority for us but guess it would be for those addicted to their screens.
