Fancy settling your caravan in a strategic location that will give you easy access to all sorts of attractions and activities? Take a pitch at Grove Lock Caravan Park, a spacious and well-maintained Bedfordshire site two miles outside of Leighton Buzzard. There’s a lengthy list of things to see and do in this area, so it’s certainly a place where you could easily spend several days without any danger of running out of entertainment. For starters, you might like to try Whipsnade Zoo, Bletchley Park, Woburn Safari Park and Milton Keynes’ Snozone skiing facility – or perhaps head out for walks in the likes of Rushmere Country Park or on the Dunstable Downs? And of course there’s also the option of boarding a train for a day touring the sights of London (an hour away by train). The immediate surroundings are rather lovely here too – the site is right on the banks of the Grand Union Canal for easy waterside wanders, and a very short stroll from the local pub too (how handy). Everything on site has been well thought out to provide the best experience for guests – pitches are large and well spaced, with access to electricity and water plus a well-kept toilet and shower block. Kids and dogs are welcome on site, so feel free to bring along the whole family.

  • Commerciële voertuigen (voertuigen die gebruikt worden voor werk en/of het vervoeren van goederen of betalende passagiers) en voertuigen met reclameboodschappen zijn verboden op het terrein.
  • Kortingskaarten en cadeaubonnen kunnen niet gebruikt worden bij reserveringen via Pitchup.com.
  • De receptie is onbemand na 17:00. Verwacht je na dit tijdstip aan te komen, breng het park dan hiervan op de hoogte, zodat het team je informatie kan geven over jouw accommodatie.
  • Minstens één lid van het gezelschap dient 18 of ouder te zijn.
  • Voor het gebruik van de elektrische aansluitingen is een kabel van minstens 15 meter nodig.
  • Als je vuur wilt maken, dien je de brandstof, houtblokken en kolen daarvoor ter plaatse te kopen.
  • Het wordt gasten geadviseerd om een zaklantaarn van goede kwaliteit mee te nemen, omdat delen van het terrein onverlicht zijn.
  • Houd er rekening mee dat de toiletten/douches uniseks zijn.
  • Geen elektrische barbecues toegestaan.
  • Indien de receptie bij aankomst gesloten is: neem contact op met het nummer dat in de reserveringsbevestiging vermeld staat.

Ik was blij met: Big field, lots of room for kids to run around.
Close proximity to Grand Union Canal and Grove Lock Marina for picturesque walks . Also pub right next door what more could you need?
Facilities excellent with individual bathrooms 6/7 in a block, well maintained and stocked.

Ik was niet zo blij met: Campsite signs! Postcode takes you to some stables not the campsite. Site should be called Grove Lock Marina campsite, not just Grove Lock. ( Pitchup ads just say Grove Lock campsite) We phoned site as we were approaching because we had just driven right past! we thought the lock would Be a different place to the marina, and no brown caravan sign to direct you. Guy on the phone said turn in at pub sign - but there are 2!! Got there eventually.
Camping field is adjacent to quite a busy road so can be a bit noisy. But wasn’t a big issue as in a caravan.

Ik was blij met: The local pub was gorgeous.

Ik was niet zo blij met: We were given an incorrect entry code so we could not get in. If another guest had not shown up, we would not have got in at all.
We could not use the pedestrian gate to the canal.
No body answered the phone or emails.
This is absolutely unsatisfactory.

Ik was blij met: Lots of space between pitches. Sanitary block excellent with toilet, shower and wash bassin all in one private space and very clean.

Ik was niet zo blij met: The grass pitches are situated in a field near the road and the train line so it is quite noisy.
Despite good review on the nearby pub, we had a bad experience: It was very busy and short of staff so the tables were not cleaned and many dishes on the menu were not available…but that is nothing to do with the campsite.

Ik was niet zo blij met: It is along a road and railway; but if you walk for long enough, you can sleep through the noise of such good transport links!

Ik was blij met: Fabulous location - really enjoyed being close to the marina and nice towpath walk to nearby shops. Good pitch, great field, good clean showers - liked having individual bathrooms in the block. Plenty of good hot water. Friendly helpful staff.

Ik was blij met: The site how well laid out it was and the people who were very helpful, plus you had the grand canal at the edge of the site that was lovely for walks and to top it all off was the pub called The Grove Lock, the food was outstanding and you could eat inside or outside, we will be back.

Ik was blij met: Site well maintained, Toilet block clean and bright. Friendly staff. Next to canal so tow side walks possible. Can't comment on WiFi as did not use but was avaiable

Ik was niet zo blij met: No grey water disposal area. at rush hour road became quite busy with some noise. Tv signal a bit difficult to obtain.

Getting out for a walk is certainly a good idea around here, whether you choose to set off along the canal towpath, wander among the woods at Rushmere Country Park (10 minutes’ drive) or see what sort of trails you can find at the National Trust-maintained landscapes at Dunstable Downs (15 minutes) and Ashridge Estate (20 minutes). There are all sorts of historic attractions to explore nearby too, including art-filled Ascott House (five minutes) and heritage rides on Leighton Buzzard Railway (five minutes) as well as the famed Bletchley Park (15 minutes), where you can find out all about the fascinating role the Enigma machine played in World War II and hear the stories of those that worked there. Animal attractions are in good supply here too, so you may like to take the kids to meet big beasts at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo (15 minutes) or Woburn Safari Park, or make friends with cuddlier creatures at Abbotts View Alpacas (15 minutes, advance bookings only) or The Bucks Goat Centre (25 minutes).
