For those who’ve over-indulged again this Christmas, it’s time for a New Year detox. But forget expensive hotels that charge the earth. Outdoor accommodation specialist Pitchup.com has some fantastic properties with first-rate facilities such as swimming pools, hot tubs and gyms –meaning visitors get the same results at a fraction of the price!

All the trimmings - Old Thorns Manor Hotel, Liphook, Hampshire

Old Thorns Manor Hotel is an upmarket property that also has luxury pods in its well-maintained grounds. Pod guests have access to the hotel’s main facilities, including the Elevation Health and Fitness area – complete with 20-metre pool, hot tub, sauna, steam room and first-class gym – and the Spa at Old Thorns, which has the very latest treatments from Decleor. Garden of E-den - Middlewick Farm, Somerset

Middlewick Farm is set in 16 acres at the base of Glastonbury Tor and has an indoor swimming pool and steam room. It has two cosy glamping cabins (called E-dens) with full-size double beds, front deck and awning. As an extra bonus, crisp white bedding and fluffy white towels are included in the price. There are no TVs; however each E-den has its own private shower room.

The view from each cabin is up towards Glastonbury Tor, an amazingly special location and view. There’s also an outdoor barbecue area and outdoor pizza oven (not that detoxers will be using that – point them instead to the nearby farmers’ market, where they can buy organic, locally produced veg)!

Middlewick Farm is near to Wick and Glastonbury, is a short walk to the pre-Christian oak trees Gog and Magog, as well as the Tor.

Price: £165 for three nights (January 16-19) for two people (£27.50pppn)

Room service included! - PoSHHuts, Northumberland National Park

In a beautiful and private rural setting in the heart of Northumberland National Park and next to Kielder Water, PoSHHuts shepherd's huts are a peaceful retreat away from busy everyday life.

The spacious huts are set in their own gardens overlooking woodland and river and come with chandeliers, a comfy settee, king size bed, wood-burning stove, fully fitted bespoke design kitchen (with small oven and fridge) and a luxurious large en suite shower. Bedding and linen is also supplied.

Visitors can get fit by hiring bikes, fishing, playing tennis, trying some watersports or going for lovely, relaxing walks/runs in the park. There’s no pool at the site, but there is an indoor pool close by, as well as a golf course.

After all that exercise, what could be better than a nutritious, home-cooked meal delivered to the door?  PoSHHuts will bring a pre-prepared PoSHHnosh evening meal to huts on request – all visitors have to do is heat it up! Guests also get a welcome breakfast pack or PoSHHnosh breakfast option.

By night, simply sit back and watch the stars – the park was awarded Dark Sky Park status in December 2013. Nearby Kielder Observatory runs regular events for the astronomically inclined.

Group effort! - Domaine le Jardin du Marais,Vendée, France

It’s always easier to achieve results when working out with others. The three-bedroom cottage at the Camping le Jardin du Marais sleeps eight adults, so visitors can get fit as a group at less than £10 per person per night.

Domaine le Jardin du Marais is in Vendée, seven kilometres from the Atlantic Ocean coast, between the islands of Yeu and Noirmoutier.

It has a fitness area, indoor pool and mountain bike mini circuit, while outside there’s a terrace and private garden. Kayaking, cycling, golf, horse riding and other activities can all be booked nearby or guests can go walking along the long beach of Saint-Jean-De-Monts, and there’s a regular farmers market in the vicinity.

The property is part of Sites et Paysages, the largest chain of nature and family campsites in France, which is renowned for its commitment to protecting the natural habitat.

The cottage has a kitchen with fridge freezer, microwave, oven, cooking hobs, washing machine, vacuum cleaner, living room/diner with TV, bathroom with shower and sink, and a separate toilet.  The rooms have blackout curtains, pillows, blankets and quilts provided. Visitors will need to bring their own bed linen and covers.

Price: £66 per adult for seven nights – less than £10 per person per night – in a three bedroom cottage with private garden, from Saturday, 18 January (sleeps eight adults, two small children and an infant: total cost £526.77 per week).
