Set in the extensive grounds of an Elizabethan manor house, The Iglu at Midelney Manor is a place where you really can escape to the country. Surrounded by 450 acres of farmland and woods, the stylishly designed wooden cabin has its own private setting, with birdsong and the rustle of leaves as your only company. Just right for romantic escapes à deux, the property was handmade by Estonian master craftsmen, and oozes panache both inside and out. It is in essence a tiny, light-filled house complete with picture windows looking out onto the fields, a fully fitted kitchen, an ultra-cosy bed in a nook and a fully plumbed-in bathroom. Moving outdoors, there’s a patio with outdoor seating and a woodfired hot tub, where you can languish while enjoying the silence of your surroundings along with views to the Somerset Levels. Should you ever want to leave your Somerset hideaway, there are a couple of exceptional pubs within 40 minutes’ walk. The local town of Langport (10 minutes’ drive) sits on the River Parrett and is a springboard to explorations of the Somerset Levels by bike, on foot or in canoes down the waterways.

Mi è piaciuto: We really enjoyed our stay at the iglu. It was spacious, clean and comfortable. It is set in the middle of the countryside with no-one around, we wanted to have a quiet stay and we weren’t disappointed! Midelney manor was easy to find and we were met promptly by our host Jeremy. He was really welcoming and friendly. The hot tub was brilliant. We would stay again!

Non mi è piaciuto: There is a walk from your car to the iglu, so don’t pack anything too heavy. The induction hob was fab and there is a toaster but no oven- we cooked our pizzas on the bbq, which was fun.

Mi è piaciuto: Super cosy, luxurious and inviting Iglu with spotlessly clean facilities. Everything you could want for a peaceful stay including milk and local cookies on arrival. The wood fired hot tub overlooking the beautiful Somerset countryside gives the perfect place to relax and unwind.
Jeremy is a great host who couldn’t have made our stay any more perfect. He made us feel extremely welcome and nothing was too much trouble.
