Runswick Bay Caravan Park

Mi è piaciuto: Close to the bay/beach.
Friendly welcome and info when we arrived.
Clean, warm, accessible shower/ toilet block.
5 min walking distance to local pub, which serves pub food at reasonable prices.
Bay was really good for crabbing.
Flat ground, we used our levellers to get van horizontal.
Drinking water easily accessible from a few points around site.
Other families so our child had someone to play with.
Large site, so not claustrophobic/too close to others.

Non mi è piaciuto: Open to the elements - very windy during our stay.
Not very good signal for our phones, which made it tricky to stay in contact with each other.
No electric hookup - not a big problem as we have a leisure battery.

Mi è piaciuto: The location is ideal for the Cleveland Way, tucked in a cute little coastal town. Walking distance to many facilities, such as pubs, cafes, the beach and bus stop. The site was easy to find and check-in was easy. The facilities are good, albeit a bit dated.

Non mi è piaciuto: It is a very open field, it was exceptionally busy and we had children playing games at our tent door, dogs were off the lead (despite rules stating they must be on the lead), and a man next to us drove his car off-site around 10pm, after we watched him drinking all day, which then made me very nervous for when he returned. I feel camp sites have come a long way over these last few years and this one has been left behind some what. Simple things could make it better, such as planting a few trees/bushes to add shelter from the coastal wind (we nearly slept in our car one night the wind was that bad and some tents got damaged from the wind), as well as helping to add a bit of privacy and make the landscape more attractive. The showers could have a face lift. It would be nice/comforting if staff checked in on the campsite to ensure rules were being followed.

We only offer our camp field in July and August as a pop up camping field so it is not officially a campsite, We do however offer full shower/toilet block facilities which are checked and cleaned regularly, it is the summer holidays so can only be expected to be extremely busy,
Shame you won’t visit again, you will miss the stunning Runswick Bay coast line,

Mi è piaciuto: Location is great , Runswick Bay a short walk away . Coastal walk overlooking the sea (top sea cliff) also 5 mins from campsite. Facilities clean .Decent pub next to the complex.
Surrounded by beautiful views !

The site itself we would Recommend !!

Non mi è piaciuto: We was a party of four . Sleeping in two different 2men tents .
We had to pay for two pitches because we had two tents !

There where parties on the same campsite with double the amount of people than us sleeping in one tent,
The size of there tent requiring far more space (pitch size ) than our two tents put together did .
But we paid double than them because we had two tents ..

Value for money gets 3 out of 5 stars from me based on my above scenario .

But if you’re staying a large tent it would be 5 out of 5 .

On arrival at reception is very rushed. No chat or site location or advice given unless you quickly ask before (who I presume) is the owner. whizzers off in his buggy after showing you where to pitch,

Email replies are quick, But effortless, short & sweet and at times left uncertain of the answer to the question asked .

Customer service 2 of 5 stars.

Mi è piaciuto: Good location, lovely pubs nearby.
Toilet facilities were very good.
Field was good, dry.

Non mi è piaciuto: Toilet block small when the site is busy.
Very windy spot, worked fine but be mindful of this.
Could have had higher security, locked gate etc but felt okay.

Non mi è piaciuto: Pitches on a cliff. Very hard ground. Very windy- tents were getting damaged. Average customer service- very little communication.

Mi è piaciuto: Great site, lots of room. Quiet, respectful campers. Really easy access to Cleveland Way & the beach. Pub on the doorstep. Clean facilities. Perfect!

Mi è piaciuto: Runswick Bay is beautiful. The campsite was clean and well maintained and we had a great stay with walks along the Cleveland Way.

Mi è piaciuto: Owners very friendly and helpful on arrival an throughout stay. Local information given as personally show to pitch and paid attention to specific request to be next to another family.

Clean and well maintained site.

Ground level enough for it to not be a problem.

Well located for beach access.

Would stay again.
