Hay-on-Wye Festival Camping

Mi è piaciuto: Lovely location for the site, the tent was spacious for three friends and very comfortable. Facilities were really clean and plentiful and the staff were very helpful and friendly.

Non mi è piaciuto: We couldn’t fully close the front flap of the door which meant at night the tent felt a little cold.

Yurts numbered making them easy to find & bolts on doors of the larger yurts.

Non mi è piaciuto: - Yurt far too small with 4 bed frames with wooden slats inside. 1ft of space at entrance before needing to actually walk over the 3 beds (no space between frames) and a small amount of space by a 4th bed at top. Impossible to get clothes in / anything in. Very difficult when site is very muddy and you have young children to occupy. We moved to a larger Yurt for one night as this was only available for one night, then went home a day early missing our bookings for 2nd day at Hay festival due to this.
- Bedding was damp - that said it had rained the day we arrived which may have caused this but without any way to heat / air it, it remained cold and damp all night. Cleanliness score given to reflect this - the yurt carpets were clean.
- Tents very close together which means all you see is tents rather than beautiful countryside. Also makes it very difficult to set up gas bbq / chairs outside. Would be nicer & probably less muddy if yurts were around edge of field rather than in rows a couple of meters apart with a large aisle through middle that everyone walks up and down (this had become very muddy by the time we arrived).
- No option to pay for an electric hook up point which would be useful.
In summary the family tents / 4 person tents are not functional for more than 2-3 people and certainly didn’t feel like glamping. Yurts themselves are good quality and would most likely be fine for 4 people if using sleeping bags etc rather than being set up with beds.

Mi è piaciuto: Cosy, comfy yurt, good facilities & friendly staff - access to charging and kettle were ace.

Non mi è piaciuto: Yurts are a bit too close together for such a large site - you can hear everything (?!?)

Mi è piaciuto: The facilities were EXTREMELY clean. The showers were spacious and the water was warm. The loos were spacious and had a private bin and sink.
Reception had a microwave and a kettle
Co op is nearby to grab snacks
A short walk from town but restricted mobility pals be advised it is a bit of a walk to the festival itself however shuttles are available in town.
Super comfortable bed, a lot of storage. The yurt was lovely and clean. Modestly decorated but had everything we could need!

Mi è piaciuto: Yurt was lovely, bed made up with warm bedding, bedside tables, lamp and battery hanging lanterns, hanging mirror, sheep skin rug and mats made it cosy. Toilets were good quality and cleaned and maintained regularly. Didn't use showers but looks OK. Place to wash dishes. Area close to village shop opposite, beautiful countryside

Non mi è piaciuto: Could have done with mowing grass before event started, it was dry weather so not too bad but attracted lots of mossies and flies. Car park had very long grass, would have been very unpleasant if wet weather. Yurts quite close together so can hear neighbor's conversations

Mi è piaciuto: The bed was comfy, the yurt was clean and the toilets were very nice for a festival site.

Non mi è piaciuto: It was a bit of a walk from the main Hay festival but close to the how the light gets in music festival (although this had finished)

Would have been great to have a kettle as there were electric sockets.
