Act now to secure favourite sites across UK, Ireland and Europe
Outdoor accommodation specialist, Pitchup.com has unveiled 2015 availability up to two months ahead of some of its competitors. Pitchup.com founder Dan Yates said: “We're already receiving around 2,000 searches a day for 2015 availability, and now those holidaymakers can find and book their ideal outdoor break for next year on our site. We’ve seen a 55% year on year increase in forward bookings which means more people than ever are planning their outdoor holiday well ahead.”
He continued: “Fine weather this summer has encouraged people to plan well ahead for next year so they can secure their favourite pitch or site. As increasing numbers of British holidaymakers choose an outdoor break, year after year we’re finding that many people make a decision about where to visit relatively early, and book it to ensure they get exactly the site they love.”
Pitchup.com currently offers over 280 glamping, camping and caravanning sites with accommodation for 2015, well ahead of The Camping and Caravanning Club and The Caravan Club which don’t release 2015 vacancies until November or December.
Yates explained why it’s so important to book early:
-
More choice: the best pitches go fast, so for the best views, most privacy and best facilities - book early;
-
Great prices: as the year progresses prices may fluctuate as site owners adjust to demand. Whilst ‘last moment’ bookings are always available through Pitchup.com, booking early secures a pitch at an attractive price.
Pitchup.com has taken 55% more bookings for 2015 than it had taken for 2014 as at the same date last year (to September 22nd).
Amongst the sites already offering availability for 2015 are:
UK
This small independent site has just a few shepherd’s huts and yurts available for hire meaning it has a tendency to sell out fast. With an enviable location close to both the Norfolk Broads and Norwich, it’s a great base for exploring. There is a little more choice for campers with 60 tent pitches available, although these also sell out quickly. Prices for 2015 holidays start from as little as £13 per night for a tent pitch while glamping starts from £70 per night.
As anyone who has camped in the Lake District will know, the best sites are hard to come by as they tend to book up extremely early. The Old Post Office Campsite in the village of Santon Bridge is perfect for those wanting to tackle the western fells, including the mighty Scafell! The site offers a range of hard and grass pitches for tents, tourers and motorhomes, some with electric hook-ups. Prices for 2015 start from £8.50 per night.
Mettingham Castle Lodge and Castleview Vacations
Luxury glamping in the grounds of a castle is what’s on offer at Mettingham Castle. With direct views of the castle, 14 acres of spacious grounds to explore, an option to stable a horse while on holiday and just three medieval tents available for hire, it’s easy to see why this site gets booked up way in advance. The fully-fitted bell tents come with everything anyone could need for a holiday in the countryside including furnishings, bedding, mini kitchen area and external dining area with gas barbecue. Prices for a one-night stay start from £58.
This rural site effortlessly combines glamping and pitches for tents and motorhomes. With the beauty of Dartmoor on the doorstep and Devon’s coastline within easy reach, this site provides appeal for all. Pitches cost from £11.70 per night while the Shepherd’s Huts are from £28.80 per night.
Located in Pembrokeshire, Wales, this comfortable glamping site is ideal for those who like the idea of camping but not all the hassle. The bell tents come with beds, bedding, furnishings, towels, bathrobes, solar lighting and a barbecue/firepit for evening cooking. The tents cost from £60 per night, which includes a hearty Welsh breakfast cooked by the owners who also run a B&B.
This new site on the Isle of Wight offers just two luxury safari tents. The accommodation is based on a working farm and offers stunning sea views and even a private beach! Fresh eggs from the farm’s own chickens are available for purchase. Each safari tent comes equipped with solar power, a woodburning stove, ensuite bathroom, firepit and gas barbecue. The luxury tents can sleep up to seven people and cost from £100 per night.
Europe
With much larger sites accommodating tents, touring and motorhomes combined with excellent facilities including swimming pools, sports areas, shops, restaurants and children’s play areas, the sites across France and Spain offer as much as one would expect from a self-catering hotel.
Amongst those already featuring availability for 2015 are:
This large site is located near Limoges. There is a wide range of electric and non-electric grass pitches costing from £11.55 per night plus fully-equipped holiday homes from £54.53 per night.
Camping de Châlons-en-Champagne
This large site is perfectly located for anyone wishing to take advantage of the tastings available in France’s extravagant Champagne region. The site features a range of pitches for tents, tourers and motorhomes costing from £15.64 per night plus holiday homes from £56.13.
Camping Victoria, located in the Mediterranean town of Canet de Mar, 30 miles northeast of Barcelona, offers an outdoor pool and is ideally positioned for those seeking to explore Catalonia on two wheels or on two feet. Within easy reach of both the beaches and mountains, the site offers cabins and tent pitches in addition to spots for motorhomes. Pitches are available from January 2015 from £16.19 per night based on two adults sharing a tent pitch without electricity.
This picturesque site is set in wooded grounds in Montlouis-sur-Loire. There are plenty of places to swim in nearby lakes and rivers - in addition to a free-to-use swimming pool just 50 metres away - and even a pétanque court for the ultimate défi sportif. Grass pitches start from £12.27 per night based on two adults sharing a tent: the site also offers two-bedroom holiday lodges from £75.38.
