Little touches missing in the bar , chalk for cues, tv upstairs didn't work (no remote apparently)
Staff super busy constantly so service a bit sporadic
Wifi terrible

A aimé : A few times we have been here it's so lovely and the people are very kind and friendly.
It's got lovely pitches and showers lots of space and dog friendly.
The restaurant on site is nice and the food is to die for, one happy customer.
It has become a favourite for us

A aimé : Lovely flat field, excellent shower and toilet facilities, great washing up room with sinks, washer and dryer
Beautiful area superb bar and restaurant on site
Very quiet at night, no road traffic at all

A aimé : Very tidy site with excellent facilities. Bistro across the road does great food…breakfast and evening meals etc.
All staff very friendly and helpful and the site is a stones throw from Hadrians Wall.

Great having food and drink options on site. Very helpful staff. Good WiFi
Excellent base for starting the Hadrian's Wall Path.

A aimé : Well, it's just about the only place to stop with a Motorhome in Bowness. The main camping area is pleasant enough, and the nearby pub (The Kings Arms Inn) in the village is good.

N'a pas aimé: Avoid asking for a gravel 'pitch' . The gravel area is not much more than a yard, tucked away around the back; not really part of the campsite. Building / development work is in [slow] progress, so some parts resemble a building site. £7.50 for electric hook-up is definitely on the steep side.

N'a pas aimé: Non patrons parking too close to motorhome pitch, but understandable given limited local parking on the road and ongoing construction.

A aimé : Fantastic stop over. Very peaceful and quiet on the pitch. Nice views in the morning. The toilets and shower block are all new and spotless.We arrived late on our pitch and all the pubs were closed on Monday night. Michelle who runs the bistro reopened the kitchen especially for us & cooked us a beautifully homemade meal to die for, next morning we had a full breakfast in the bistro which was superb.If you like being spoilt & looked after this is the place to stop over. Homemade food at its best.

A aimé : There is so much to like about Hunters Leisure group, we are frequent visitors because the staff team and the facilities are amazing as well as being in a beautiful village perfect for exploring, dog walking and 2 minutes walk from the sea. Hunters is continuously developing so there is some construction work taking place but this has not interfered with any of our stays at all.
We choose to use the gravel pitch but there are other types of pitches available and the electric hook up is no bother.
The toilets and showers are brilliant, like new, spotlessly clean, and very well kept. They are situated close to the pitches which is really useful. The food in the Garrison bistro on site is so good, whether it is breakfast, lunch or dinner- we have sampled them all during different stays and have always been very satisfied with the service and the quality of the food is exceptional! We are yet to try Ian and Michelle’s Sunday roast but have been told they are amazing and prepared from fresh…..hopefully next time we stay we will be there for Sunday lunch!
Our dog Otis is always welcomed, in the bar and restaurant and loves the attention!
WiFi is free on site but isn’t the strongest signal depending where you are at the time but didn’t bother us too much at all.
I would advise anyone heading to this stunning area of Cumbria to visit Hunters leisure group, have a look at the little museum, visit the shop for an ice cream, (both on site) and if able to, stay and enjoy what Hunters has to offer. We could see the shepherds huts are very popular, and the resident chickens are great to watch pottering about- especially Adolf the cockerel!

N'a pas aimé: There really is not anything to dislike and if you did find something wasn’t to your liking Stella, Ian, Michelle or any of the team would do what they could to help- just need to ask! The information on the website is very accurate and not misleading at all- which we have unfortunately found on other sites close/by which is always disappointing.
