A aimé : Lovely flat, well maintained pitches. Water in the shower was warm. The lambs were very enjoyable to watch.

N'a pas aimé: Facilities were limited, which was disappointing given the price. There was no vending machine, as was mentioned on their website, lights in the toilet block unexpectedly went out at 22.30, and no sink associated with loos, but only a separate single sink, intended for washing up.

Cost:

£25 per night including free showers, waste disposal & free fire pit is lower than any comparable site within a 10 mile radius within the Yorkshire Dales.

Customer Service:

You received a comprehensive welcome pack prior to arrival. We visited at 1800hrs and 2000hrs to ask if we could help with anything you need. At 0900hrs we visited the site with bin bags and asked if we could help with anything. I know we did all of this, because we do it for every camper. Many campers don't want to be hassled, so we don't visit anymore unless a problem is reported. I'd be genuinely interested with what more you would like us to do.

You arrived after 2000hrs and when we came to see you at 0900hrs you were in a conference call in the picnic area and gestured that you didn't want disturbing. Respecting that, we didn't even check you in....!!!

Toilet Sinks:

We deliberately don't put sinks in the toilets as regardless of how many portaloos we put on site, people want to use porcelain and we get queues if people are in toilets washing and doing their make-up. The sinks with hot water to wash your hands are a 10 metre walk (undercover).

Lights Going Out at 2230hrs:

The Yorkshire Dales are a dark skies area and to comply with planning policy we are required to avoid unnecessary light pollution. Equally, we are proud of our environmental footprint and avoiding unnecessary energy use is part of that. I don't believe it's unreasonable for campers to use a torch after 2230hrs to achieve these goals.

Réponse du gestionnaire : Over the whole easter weekend we were only made aware of 1 person having a cold shower and the lady had turned the mixer tap to cold and not hot, so you were either that lady or you never made us aware of your difficulty despite being asked in the welcome pack to contact us (phone number provided) if we could help with anything.

Every time we were in the area of the showers over easter weekend we asked campers if the showers were hot and received unanimous confirmation, so I doubt the sink (plumbed to the mains water supply) was anything to do with it and I suspect user error.

Place was clean and tidy and everything you needed was there would definitely stay there again

Good facilities

Loved being able to have a proper fire this seems to be less and less these days

Enjoyed having breakfast with the sheep in the morning

N'a pas aimé: We arrived at tea time having driven from Sedbergh, which took about 10 minutes. There were no staff around and just a sign saying pick your pitch. The toilets consisted of a box with a toilet in and no hand washing facilities. The shower was a similar box. We stayed for approximately 10 minutes and left to stay in Dent. Would not return and would definitely not recommend as there is nothing to recommend.

A aimé : Gorgeous setting for the camp with stunning views. Lovely clean site, toilet and shower block were also great.

Owners coming round regularly selling firewood or giving out binbags for rubbish.

2 sheep kept wandering round visiting the pitches which was nice.

Loved the little notes giving you directions to the river, town and the pigs.

Various water points around the site too.

We were lucky to have a clear night, the stars were fantastic due to low light pollution.

Definitely recommend, great site. Lots of pitches but only a handful booked while we were there.

Village nearby is lovely with few pubs.
Amazing walks to nearby hills.
