Me gustó: Beautiful site with lovely lake to walk around. Toilet and showers clean and new.

No me gustó: Crows were very loud

Me gustó: Lovely open field, with access to the lake nearby. Shame you can't see the lake and castle from it. The showers were amazingly warm, and it was nice to have a washer and dryer on site too for a sensible price.

No me gustó: Lack of view of the lake/castle. Field is a little more sloped than I would have liked...but that is me nitpicking!

No me gustó: Close proximity to very public footpath used by every person on the site.

Me gustó: Wasn't overly impressed with anything if I'm honest.

No me gustó: Quite a few things to be honest, big hole in the ground where we had to pitch was very uncomfortable but we had no choice to pitch there. The noise we had to endure from other campers and on both nights we were there we got woken up by a vehicle coming and going at 3am!!!!!!!

Del administrador: Hello Stacey, thank you for taking the time to write your review. We were disappointed to read your comments and to find out that you didn't enjoy your visit to Lakeside. Thankfully, we find that your opinion is a rare one but we still appreciate what you have to say. We understand that our rural location isn't suited to everyone however most guests do love the location. We have to admit to being a little confused about the 'hole'. The pitch you had is one of two on a large grassy area and guests are permitted to choose anywhere on the patch avoiding any ruts that may have developed. Regarding the noise; the site guidelines are given to all our visitors on arrival; we trust that guests will adhere to them. Had we known after the first night that your neighbours were being noisy we could have had a discrete word with them but unfortunately, if we don't know we can't help.

Me gustó: How easy it was to pick where we wanted our tent and on a night they came round to check after 11:30 to ensure everyone was following the quite rule, plenty to do around the camp site

Me gustó: Lovely situation just down from Castle. Next to large lake, great for walking dog around. Reception lady very pleasant. Gravel pitch good. No issues really. Would stop again no problem.

Del administrador: The Great Lake really is lovely at any time of year and we do get a spectacular view of Castle Howard from its banks don't we! We're glad you enjoyed your walks with your dog and hope to see you again.

Me gustó: Felt very upon arrival at reception, they gave clear instructions where to go and pitch our tent. They explained where all the facilities was, also gave us a leaflet on information on the site aswell as the local area. We found a nice pitch, and ultimately enjoyed our stay. Highly recommend.

Me gustó: We were really happy with the site, first time here, receptionist was extremely helpful and polite. Shower and toilet block impeccable even though it seemed to be in constant use. Pitches were ok, a little on the narrow side to be honest. The surrounding lake and woodland were an absolute pleasure to walk around, 51 Swans on the lake at one point. We’re bird watchers and couldn’t believe it when we saw a small flock of Gold Crest, they are absolutely beautiful little birds.
We will definitely be returning to the site, and most definitely ask to be near the lake.

Del administrador: What a lovely review Bea and thank you for mentioning our lovely staff and facilities. The swans really are magnificent and quite at home on the lake with the other water birds. I'm now intrigued as to what a Gold Crest looks like and will be 'googling' them. We do have sitings of rare birds at different times of the year when the twitchers descend. We shall look forward to greeting you again.
