No me gustó Terrible Experience – Misleading, Dirty, and Intimidating

Our recent stay at this campsite was extremely disappointing and frankly, upsetting. It’s advertised as a friendly, family-focused site, but what we encountered was the complete opposite.

Facilities in a Disgusting State
The toilet and shower blocks were filthy throughout our stay. There was no sign of regular cleaning, with vomit, urine, and faeces often left on the floor. The grime buildup alone made using the facilities an unpleasant experience, especially with young children.

Unwelcoming Environment for Families
Despite promoting itself as family-friendly, the site had strict noise restrictions starting from 4pm. Children playing outside at that time were considered “too loud,” even during the summer school holidays. When we explained this was unfair, we were met with a disturbing response. A staff member told us the site had recently been taken over “by travellers” and suggested they could be called down to “deal with us” if we didn’t comply. This was extremely threatening and completely inappropriate.

False Promises
None of the advertised amenities were available. The bar never opened once during our stay. There was no on-site shop for essentials and absolutely no entertainment or activities provided. The swimming pool was chaotic — one minute it was open to everyone, the next it was apparently “bookings only.” There was no clear guidance or communication.

Plot Mismanagement
We had reserved two pitches — one for our tent and a second as a play and seating area for our kids, which we always do. Despite having paid for both, the site re-let our second plot while we were away for the day, moving our things without notice or permission. This was not only disrespectful but completely unacceptable.

Final Verdict
We felt misled, let down, and at times unsafe during our stay. The entire experience was far from what was advertised. Poor hygiene, zero amenities, and threatening behaviour made this trip one to forget.

I would strongly advise others to avoid this site

I rarely leave reviews, but I feel compelled to warn others about the shocking experience we had at this campsite.

**Cleanliness:**
The washroom and toilet facilities were absolutely disgraceful. They were consistently filthy, with grime covering the surfaces and bodily fluids – including sick, urine, and faeces – frequently left on the floors. It was genuinely unhygienic and unacceptable for any site, let alone one advertising itself as *family-friendly*.

**False Advertising:**
The campsite claims to be family-oriented and welcoming, but this was far from our experience. Children were not allowed to play or make any noise past 5:30pm – during the *summer holidays*! When we politely questioned this policy, we were met with an incredibly inappropriate and threatening response:

> “We’ve just been bought by travellers – if you want them to come down to sort you out and kick you off, then so be it.”

This was not only unprofessional but left us feeling intimidated and unsafe.

**Lack of Amenities:**
The bar was never open, there was no shop on site for basic supplies, and there was zero entertainment – all of which were clearly listed as features in the advert. The swimming pool was another letdown, with rules and access times changing constantly. One moment it was open, the next it required booking, and we were never properly informed.

**Plot Issues:**
We booked two plots – one for our tent and the other as a seating/play area for our children. Despite paying for both, the site gave our second plot away while we were out, even moving our personal belongings without consent. This was the final straw.

**In Summary:**
This was by far the worst camping experience we’ve ever had. The combination of unsafe conditions, misleading advertising, lack of facilities, and hostile behaviour from staff made for a truly awful trip.

**We will never return. Be warned – avoid at all costs.**

Me gustó We were pleased with our stay at Heathland Beach during August. Understandably it was busy for the summer holidays. It’s a simple site with two kids parks and a small pool. We spent most days off site, and used the onsite facilities around this which worked well. We’d have struggled to stay onsite all day as there’s limited entertainment. The site is clean, laid out well and the staff were friendly.
The site has recently been taken over by new owners (July 2025) and the staff were unsure about the changes the come (such as rebooking swimming)

No me gustó The showers aren’t the best design as there’s four cubicles (shower and toilet) as a wet room. Thankfully they weren’t always occupied. I can understand other reviews about the showers being outdated. They’re simple enough and work fine.

Me gustó The pitches are large and well spaced. Nothing is far away from you. The site is really well looked after, the kids play areas were a real hit and there's heated swimming pools!! What's not to like?!

We used the bar area a few times and enjoyed bingo. The drinks are reasonably priced and a good selection.

There's lots to do nearby. We went to Africa Alive which i was pleasantly surprised by. And be sure to go to South Beach a vast sandy beach.

No me gustó Would be great if the bar did food, there's a burger wagon outside some days but not always.

Me gustó We thought the pitches were huge, also thought it was excellent value for money. Areas all clean and tidy.staff very helpful we didn't get chance to use swimming pools or venue on this trip.would highly recommend

Me gustó Amazing for children, lots to do and safe to let them bike around the site.
Nice swimming pool for them to enjoy if you can get a turn to go.

No me gustó The campsite need to improve cleaning, we have been several times over the last few years and the cleanliness this time really let them down!

Multiple occasions toilets out of use, toilet seats broken and chucked on the floor, toilets without tissue, this morning down to two toilets because a lovely guest decided to cover the floor and tissue holder with vomit. Showers left dirty. Washing up area often left with full sinks and let over food on the sides.

Swimming for the kids was a big let down, I fully understand the pool has a capacity of 30, but it’s school holidays and the camp was full of kids. To be told we couldn’t go in and had to wait for people to leave when people were spending all morning there sunbathing on the sunbeds and not using the pool, when outside were kids waiting and returning back to tents upset because they couldn’t swim as people were being selfish and not swimming and not letting other people have a turn. When we come before we booked slots. I feel this works better as it’s monitored, you have a fair system that everyone who wants to attend can attend instead of your capacity being used by people being selfish and just using the area to sunbathe and eat by the pool.

I know the site is under new management and it feels a lot of attention has been put on to selling caravans, I think you need to go back to basics and up your cleaning standards. This is really letting you down.

No me gustó The toilets and showers were not cleaned adequately. Pool heating was not working and the new owners have shut the site shop and restaurant without warning. Camping guests were also asked to leave the pool and hour before closing to allow "owners" exclusive use...
