Castleton Camping

Me gustó: Attended with my eldest daughter and wanted a simple site to have a fire and bbq following a walk! Beautiful site, very natural, lovely toilets - no shower facilities but not needed for one night. Owner lovely and drove around to collect money and could buy extra wood and kindling. Pubs in easy walking distance and could get takeaway pizza from the George. A lovely natural site - loved it thank you.

Me gustó: Information regarding our stay was sent out promptly. The ground seemed well maintained and toilet facilities were very clean. Great location, especially for us as we were hiking. Not overcrowded, even though it was quite popular. Considering the location, and arriving later in the evening. We were able to get a relatively flat area to camp!! Very nice quiet area, no noise pollution which was lovely for a nature escape! Lovely walk into the town of Castleton, where there’s lots of pubs & little shops. Good phone signal in the area (no wifi that we were aware of!)

No me gustó: One thing to note is that the road to get to the site was very narrow and in some areas deteriorated (lots of big pot holes!!).
Also, there isn’t any staff on site. They only came round to collect payment. Although they do provide a direct contact number for themselves!

Me gustó: The owner of the campsite regularly came down to check on guests and make sure everything was okay. Clean toilet area. Lovely friendly service from the owner.

No me gustó: No drinking water (but that was clearly advertised). Not sure why there was a ban on awnings?

Me gustó: Peace and quiet! Lots of space for pitching and roaming. Ground was perfect. Surrounded by beautiful scenery. Facilities were pristine.

No me gustó: Had everything I wanted in a camping trip. I wouldn’t expect it but there wasn’t drinking water or WiFi but that’s camping if your doing it right.

Me gustó: The views was amazing walking distance to shops ideal location friendly and polite people

No me gustó: The toilets smelt and lingered in the field .

Me gustó: Massive field. pitch where you like. Amazing views. Toilets are nice portaloos, better than some toilet blocks on other campsites, clean and warm. Lots of space for kids to run about. Animals in surrounding fields for them to see. Polite laid back staff. Oh and did I mention the amazing views!!

No me gustó: No there aren't showers but we only stopped 1 night and were able to have a wash so it's not a problem.

Me gustó: Loved this campsite! Toilets were immaculate and was always available to be used/never had to queue and always were stocked with toilet roll!, the campsite itself was perfect, location was 10/10 just a short 5 minute walk from the village centre, was a lot of space for all campers to space out/wasn’t crammed in, had our personal space whilst camping. It was clean, no rubbish left around, and staff who came to collect the rest of the money were lovely and friendly!
All in all 10/10, making a return very shortly.

No me gustó: Nothing that we disliked, there isn’t any shower facilities however this is put in the discription of the campsite, but as we only did a short stay this didn’t bother us in the slightest.
