Festival goers can save £££s on accommodation costs this summer by booking an outdoor stay with Pitchup.com.  The company, which specialises in all types of outdoor accommodation from tents to tipis, has accommodation close to some of the UK’s top festivals from as little as £6 per night.

Below are just some of the festivals with nearby sites.  For visitors who already have tickets for a specific festival, check out the Pitchup.com homepage where there is a box for users to input the name of their festival.  The website will then automatically show all the nearest sites.

  • Gottwood - 20-23 June 3013

This new music festival on Anglesey, Wales is for over 18s only and features rave and dance music. 

St David’s Park at Red Wharf Bay is located on a headland offering panoramic views towards Llandudno and Great Orme cliff top.  With a focus on local produce visitors can enjoy the site’s own gastro pub serving up great cuisine, or collect their own dinner by fishing in the water around the site.  There is plenty to do locally when not at the festival, including a great range of watersports. Tent pitches start from £25 per night for up to six people.

  • Henley Regatta – 3-7 July 2013

This upmarket boat festival on the River Thames is a popular event located in an area known for its pricey and upmarket accommodation.  Visitors who want to make the most of the event but save on accommodation can enjoy an overnight stay from as little as £13 per night when booking via Pitchup.com.

  • Glorious Goodwood - 30-31 July

This world famous horse racing event at Chichester is a family friendly event which attracts visitors from all around the UK.

Chichester Lakeside Holiday Park Why not combine horse racing with another fantastic sport – fishing, at this 150 acre site just five minutes from the centre of Chichester and also close to the south’s beaches.  The site is perfect for all the family as there is something for everyone from swimming clubs, nature trails and kids clubs to bingo, karaoke and live acts.  The site also has a shop and bistro.  Pitches cost from as little as £6 per night with spaces for tents and caravans.

The Barn Caravan Park Just a short distance away at Lancing is a peaceful site that limits the numbers of guests to ensure there is space for all to enjoy privacy and quiet.  The site is open for tents only with pitches costing just £16 per night.  The site is on a fully grassed area and features great facilities for little ones including a play area, football pitch, swings, ball games area and a climbing tower slide. Brick barbecues and picnic tables are located around the site for visitors’ use.

  • Cowes Week - 3 - 10 August

With a week of fantastic yachting to keep everyone entertained, Cowes Week on the Isle of Wight is a great festival for all the family. 

Wight Bells at the Old Park Barn campsite at Sandown on the Isle of Wight is a fun and funky site ideal for travellers who want something a little bit different.  The retro style park features bell tents, each set on its own raised deck complete with outdoor seating.  The tents are fully furnished with double bed, double futon, storage and pretty finishing touches including bunting, candle holders and chic accessories.  Each tent also has its own electricity supply.  There is a minimum seven night stay which costs just £460.  The tents can sleep two adults and three children.  Bed linen can also be included for an additional £25.  Facilities on site include a shower and toilet block, games room, TV room, children’s play area and duck pond.

Pondwell A little more traditional is Pondwell Campsite at Ryde where pitches for tents are available for just £16 per night.  This peaceful site, set within 14 acres of countryside, is just a short stroll from the beach.  There is an onsite pub for food and drink plus other facilities including shower block, children’s play area, TV room and shop.

  • Edinburgh Festival Fringe -  2-26 August

The largest festival of its kind in the world with entertainment ranging from music and dancing to theatre, comedy and craft.

Adventure in the Meadow is just a short drive from Edinburgh at Gorebridge.  Accommodation at the site is in quirky Kokoons overlooking the spectacular surrounding countryside.  These pod style structures accommodate just two guests and come equipped with two bunks inside along with a solar powered LED light.  Designed to be like a tent but with better protection from the weather and greater security, users will need to bring along all the usual equipment including bedding.  Facilities on-site include a shower block, hot tub and breakfasts served in the outdoor eatery.  The Kokoons cost just £40 per night.

Thurston Manor at Dunbar, also just a short distance from Edinburgh, is a large country estate offering a variety of pitches for tents, motorhomes and caravans costing from only £12 per night.  For those who want more than just proximity to the festival, this site will appeal due to its wide range of facilities which include a bar, cycle hire, evening entertainment, fly fishing on the freshwater lake, fitness centre, games room, hot tub, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, kids' club and restaurant. 

  • In the Woods Festival - 31 August

This festival which takes place in a secret location in Kent (known only to those with tickets) is an independent festival promoting new music with highlights including a silent disco. For those who are going, potential sites in the county include:

The Hop Farm at Tonbridge is located at the Oast Village, one of Kent’s most popular tourist attractions.  The site covers over 500 acres of open fields and woodland and features several hundred pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes.  Pitches start from just £14.95 per night.  Facilities on site include shower and toilet facilities and a shop.

Chafford Park Campsite at Tonbridge Wells is almost as large, set on a 300 acre working farm.  The farm has its own shop where visitors can purchase a range of local organic produce – ideal for a picnic to take to the festival.  There are lovely walks from the site and also activities such as clay pigeon shooting and fishing.  Pitches cost from £20 per night.   Facilities on site include a children’s play area.
