Good Earth Organic Farm

- Organic farm campground with a five-acre pond and a peaceful vibe
- A 20-minute drive from Bonham State Park; 50 minutes from Lavon Lake
- Fishing permitted on the lake; wood available to buy for fire rings
Keen for a holiday with a peaceful vibe? A lake where fishing is allowed? Clean air and lots of stars when there are no clouds at night? Grab your things and head for Good Earth Organic Farm, a family-friendly site six miles from Celeste that has splendid views of the pastures and a five-acre pond. Removed from the road and other houses, this organic farm in Texas prides itself on its peaceful vibes…
So, walk down to the lake and set up your fishing rod or go and explore another area away from the pond, next to some woodlands. Trees here include willow, bald cypress and oak, while animals include the livestock on the working farm (that means that there are no dogs permitted).
When you’re not unwinding on the farm, Bonham State Park is 20 minutes’ drive away and Lavon Lake is 50 minutes’ drive away. With watersports, boating and hiking available around these spots, you might fancy a firepit to see off the day peacefully when you arrive back on site, and handily, the folk who work here will cut up some wood for your fire for a small fee.
In terms of other facilities, there’s a composting toilet near to the pitches and though the pitches are all different, they’re nicely spaced out, with between 300 and 1500 feet between them.

Local attractions
Biking, swimming and hiking… that’s just some of the stuff to busy yourself with around Bonham State Park (20 minutes’ drive). For a loop of the lake, follow the shorter trail around the shore and for a lap of the water instead, launch your own watercraft or rent out a pedalo, kayak or canoe.
When it comes to other activities, the huge Lavon Lake (50 minutes) has much more in the way of swimming, biking and boating, with five beaches and hiking and off-road biking trails all around the parks around the water. Captain a boat you wish, as there are boat rentals available here.
Seeking out some more good-looking landscapes? There’s lots of wildlife to spot around the treks in the Ladonia Wildlife Management Area (15 minutes), but for fossil hunting grounds in a river canyon, the nearby Ladonia Fossil Park, (20 minutes) is the place to be.
In case you’ve caught the fishing bug from the site, and you want to dedicate some more time to your sessions, Largemouth bass and Channel catfish could form part of your haul at the Wolfe City Reservoir (10 minutes).
