When you can’t decide between the mountains and the sea, a stay at Area Sosta Camper Gulliver puts you in close proximity to both. A small, family-run tourer site five minutes’ walk from a sandy Adriatic beach in the quiet Abruzzo village of Cologna Spiaggia, it is also half an hour’s drive from the peaks and alpine pastures of Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park. The grass pitches at Area Sosta Camper Gulliver are neatly landscaped and backed by trees – giving shade in summer and extra privacy all year around. Smart on-site facilities include shower blocks and a laundry service, plus a communal picnic area with barbecues for guest use. If barbecuing isn’t on your agenda, drift down to the beach, where there are a couple of bars and lidos, or head for the seafood restaurants in the neighbouring village of Giulianova (10 minutes’ drive). Want to be active? Keep younger kids entertained at the site’s play area, take dips in shallow waves on the beach, or rent bikes from reception for family adventures along the scenic coastal cycle path or inland into the hilly landscapes of Abruzzo.

-Strom- und Wasserinstallationen auf höchstem Niveau
-schattige Plätze durch Bäume
-unkomplizierte Betreiber
-ordentliche und saubere Plätze und Wege
-Sanitäranlagen immer sauber
-bei Störungen wird sofort betreffende Anlage gesperrt und Monteurservice geordert (Außendusche lief einmal nicht ab); Innerhalb 3 Stunden war das professionell durch Kanalreinigung erledigt.

-Strandnähe (aber ist ja geografisch bedingt) 😉

Local attractions

Soak up some of the ancient history of Abruzzo with a tour of the Roman temple remains at the Area Archeologica Santuario Tardo – Repubblicano (an hour’s drive). Travel forward into the Middle Ages to admire the ornate carved stone altarpiece in the Abbazia di San Clemente al Vomano (25 minutes), or check out the Andrea de Litio frescoes in the 13th-century cathedral at hilltop Atri (40 minutes). Montepagano (15 minutes) is another medieval gem, where you can stroll the landmark walls for views over vineyards to the Adriatic coast. Meanwhile, be sure to have your camera to hand if you spend time in photogenic Civitella del Tronto (45 minutes), where a network of tiny alleyways wend their way to a mighty clifftop fortress with vistas over the surrounding snow-capped mountains. If the kids are demanding their day on the beach, choose between the near-deserted sand dunes of Borsacchio Natural Reserve (five minutes, take your own picnic) or make for the popular seaside resort of Roseto degli Abruzzi (20 minutes), with a lively restaurant scene on its swathe of manicured beaches.
