Sitting right on the edge of the Mediterranean and within half an hour's drive of the pretty town of Arles, Camping Les Bois Flottés is a family-friendly site with a lot of top-quality amenities. A non-exhaustive list of this Camargue campsite's on-site offerings includes a large outdoor pool with sun loungers, a mini farm with a range of cute animals, a kids' play area, sports pitches, a pétanque area, a bar and a restaurant. Guests staying here are also within easy walking distance of the historic Bouches-du-Rhône village of Salin-de-Giraud, where there is a range of places to relax and interesting old salt pans to explore. The six kilometres of white sand at nearby Piémanson beach, meanwhile, are a 10-minute drive or half-hour bike ride away from base. The Camargue is a truly remarkable landscape, with windswept beaches, old lighthouses, reed beds, lagunas and over 400 species of bird – and it's the only place in France where visitors can look forward to seeing pink flamingos. While it feels like a world apart, the area is actually pretty accessible, with major towns and cities like Nîmes (an hour), Montpellier (90 minutes) and Marseille (90 minutes) within easy driving distance of the site.

Liked: Camping muy tranquilo y agradable. Buenas parcelas y entorno precioso. Son amigos de los animales, cosa que nos encantó. Repetiremos seguro.

Disliked: Para llegar des de el norte hay que coger un ferry que no dura ni un minuto y son 6€. Mejor llegar por el sur.

Liked: Het ontvangs was enorm vriendelijk. De faciliteiten waren in orde, de plekken ruim en gezellig. De camping zelf was leuk gelegen en goed paste mooi bij onze noden, zeker aan te raden!

Liked: Très beau camping, nous avons apprécié notre weekend au camping les bois flotté.
Bonne ambiance, bel emplacement, les sanitaires très propres et très spacieux nombreuses douches et toilettes.
Magnifique piscine, nos enfants et nous même avons passé un très bon moment.

Bagni ben strutturati e spesso puliti durante il giorno.
Presenza di animali (cavalli e non solo).

Disliked: Il terreno della piazzola era scosceso e non c'era molta ombra.
L'odore di fattoria (data dalla presenza di cavalli a poca distanza da noi).
Struttura un pò isolata.

Local attractions

The surrounding area is great for adventurous activities like kitesurfing, and there a couple of dedicated shops and schools in the village for those who want to give the sport a try (Salin-de-Giraud also has a tourist office if you want to organise watersports a bit further afield). Active sorts might want to bring their bikes along too, as the Camargue has lots of attractive coastal roads and paths for pedalling. For a totally different but equally scenic set of landscapes, drive north towards the Alpilles, a range of low mountains and one of the prettiest parts of Provence. Les Baux-de-Provence (an hour's drive) is a fortified village with many great panoramas that should feature high on your itinerary, as should the Carrières des Lumières (an hour), a magical multimedia art installation located in a former quarry. The site is also within easy reach of Arles (30 minutes), an attractive town on the Rhone with a Roman amphitheatre, some great museums and streetscapes that inspired Vincent Van Gogh. More Roman heritage, including a large amphitheatre and temple, are also open to visitors in Nîmes, the prefecture of the Gard department, about an hour away by road.

A cable measuring at least 15 metres is needed for the electric hook-ups.

Admission is only permitted after registering at reception.
All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.

Barbecues are permitted but must be raised off the ground and attended by an adult at all times.
