  • Spacious family-run park with sea views over St Brides Bay
  • A mile from Newgale beach for surfing and other watersports
  • Farm shop on site; pub 20 minutes' walk away
Surfing, hiking, horse riding, coasteering, wildlife spotting… if it’s fresh-air frolics you’re after, the Pembrokeshire coast is a pretty fab pick. And if sea-view sunsets would top that all off nicely, you’ll settle in well at Rainbolts Hill Farm. From this family-run four-acre site there are stunning views out over St Brides Bay, best taken in at the end of the day as the sun dips below the horizon… Naturally, that’s a fab time to crack open a beer and sizzle a few sausages too; barbies are welcome here and there's a farm shop on site selling top-notch local food and craft beers. For more supplies, decent-sized supermarkets are 10 minutes' drive away in Haverfordwest. Welsh weather not all that warm? Cosy up at the cracking country pub 15 minutes' stroll away. Having seen the sea from the site, you’ll no doubt want to take a closer look, and this is a fine location to do so. A 20-minute ramble will take you to the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, and the beaches of Newgale, Nolton Haven and Broad Haven are all under 15 minutes away by car. Turn and face inland and you’ll be looking at the Preseli Hills, also a fine place for a scenic hike. However you’ve spent your day, back at base you’ll be staying at a peaceful place (no parties, please) with heaps of space to chill out, as well as top-notch heated bathroom blocks (ladies' and gents', with toilets and showers) to keep everyone spruced up.

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked Not much

Disliked Booked this site as advertised sea views, farm shop etc. The only view we got was the toilet block, bins and wash up, which we were a couple of feet from.
Farm shop laughable, just a couple of shelves selling “essentials” and a tango slush machine.
Literally tents pitched bang next to a fast road in a field.
Went to ask if there were amy other pitches available and was told that the owner was dealing with other complaints…I asked if he would come and see me to see if we could be moved but he never showed up.
Too busy selling his log bags for the fire pits…at £15 a time.
Not enough toilets/showers/wash up facilities for a pitch of this size.
Paid for two nights but only stayed one.
If you like peace, quality sites and views don’t be fooled, just a money making scheme in a field next to a fast main road.

From the manager: We are sorry you didn't enjoy your recent stay with us. In more than 6 years of running our small family campsite we have never received a 1/10 review, and given our average rating is 9.3/10, your review is most definitely contrary to other guests who have stayed with us. I must also correct you on a few comments which are factually incorrect; we sell bags of logs for £6.00 (not £15 as stated), we do not advertise having a farm shop (we advertise having a 'small shop with a few essentials' which our guests really love (we have never received a negative review about our small shop)), we offer pitches over two fields so guests have the option to pitch away from the road if they so wish, we do have stunning views across St Brides Bay which is evidenced by multiple reviews and uploaded pictures by guests, and 'Pitch 6' which you were allocated is loved by multiple guests for being private and near to the facilities. You were extremely aggressive to our staff on arrival, shouting and complaining about nearly everything possible - We do not tolerate any abuse or aggressive behavior towards our staff therefore we would not welcome your return to our site in the future. Unfortunately your review is not a true reflection of our small family campsite but instead a misleading vexatious response purely to cause annoyance and embarrassment sadly of yourself.

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked We liked everything! The staff were amazing and very friendly. Amazing facilities. 20 minutes minutes walk to local pub with good food. Cute little farm shop with basics. 10 minutes by car to the beach.

Disliked It was clear on booking that there would be additional charge for showers. This did not affected our stay but could see why this could be frustrating. Would rather pay extra on booking for included shower facilities maybe on a timer for the water usage.

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked First of all, I’m not a fan of ‘Caravan Club’ type sites where everyone wears hi viz and there’s a list of rules longer than the Geneva Convention on Human Rights. On the flip-side, I don’t like paying £20 per night to stay in a lumpy farmer’s field about an hour’s walk from the nearest shop. I like something that’s smack bang in the middle.

This site is the perfect balance between the two usual camping experiences. The fields are well kept, the facilities are modern, the shop is very well stocked with local produce, logs and fire pits. The staff are excellent and are as laid back as they are helpful. Just choose a pitch, set up, and you’re done. No dramas. Compared to other sites I saw locally, this one was massively less crowded and relaxed.

I’ve seen some reviews begrudging paying for showers, but £1 for 10 minutes is hardly a grave expense and keeps wait times to a minimum. Plus, the cost of my stay was more than half of what others were charging locally, so I was more than happy to pay.

Stunning views over the Newgale coastline with a cracking sunset every night. Full 4G signal was amazing too, and even allowed me to get some remote work done from my van.

All in all, this is a Goldilocks site; the facilities and appearance of a Caravan Club site, with the laid back attitude of a farmer’s field. Great views, very reasonable prices, quiet and accessible. Will be back.

Local attractions

Watersports on your Welsh wishlist? Bring your surfboard to Newgale beach to join the regulars, or hire kit if you’re travelling light. Those who haven’t quite mastered the art yet can sign up for surf and kitesurfing lessons here, or join sea kayaking, paddleboarding or coasteering tours. If you're after something a little more leisurely, the family-friendly sands of Broad Haven beach are about 15 minutes’ drive away, or you could don your boots for a ramble along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path. Pony rides, lessons and beach or country canters are all on the menu at the local riding stables, 10 minutes away. St Davids, 20 minutes away, is worth a jaunt too: the UK’s smallest city is famed for its cathedral and independent shops, and it’s also the meeting point for boat trips to spot wildlife around Skomer and Ramsey islands (bring the binoculars and keep the peepers peeled for puffins and dolphins).
