  • Basic site overlooking the stunning north Wales countryside
  • A 10-minute drive to Conwy, its castle and the beach at Colwyn Bay
  • A couple of miles from Glan Conwy for shops, pubs and restaurants
The crux of coming to Conwy on holiday? Exploring the North Wales castles, countryside and coast, of course. Handy then that all of these three are within easy access of Penrhiw Uchaf Caravan Site and its lush meadows. This basic site is set on a working farm and comes with toilet and shower facilities. On day trips from this park, veer north and skirt the seaside (10 minutes’ drive or so) to bask on Colwyn Bay and Conwy Morfa beaches or set off south east to the centre of Snowdonia National Park (half an hour) and take on the hillwalking trails. If you’d rather not get your heart rate spiking far above normal while on holiday, settle in at the park to gaze at the gorgeously green landscape, watching the lambs frolic in the fields or just staying put and soaking up the peaceful vibes. Making your own meals on the camping stove? Grab bits and bobs from a shop a couple of miles away in Glan Conwy – restaurants and pubs are here as well.

Electric gravel touring pitch

Liked: Beautiful location in a little valley looking onto the mountains.
Own water and electric on pitch.
Nice stream and tyre swing for the children.
Well lit to the toilets & showers.
Quiet.
Good facilities.
Really friendly, kind owner, who messaged with directions and met us in the morning.
I don’t know why this site has had negative reviews previously…. There are two types of campsites - busy ones and quieter ones in the countryside. This is the latter.
We awoke to a woodpecker and beautiful bird sounds.
Had a lovely warm shower with no queue!
It is on a working farm so there is a scrap metal pile down by the swing but all working farms have these!!
Perfect if you have a dog too as easy to walk them, and excellent poo bin facilities.
Yes small lanes to get to camp site….. it’s wales!

Disliked: Nothing!

Electric gravel touring pitch

Liked: Arrived on site and was greeted by the owner who advised where to park and recommended under the light since we forgot ours. Next morning greeted by someone else who asked how the stay was etc

All facilities clean and tidy so no complaints.

For stunning views leave the site on foot and walk along the road and you can see the mountains and Conwy Castle.

Electric gravel touring pitch

Liked: Absolutely beyond a joke. This site shouldn't be allowed to advertise on Pitchup. I wouldn't let a dog use the so-called facilities. Men's showers never worked and the women's showers were rotten. The washing up area was right next to the chemical waste disposal unit which was an old toilet on top of an old paving slab and it stunk to high heaven. Avoid at all cost. This site should be shut down on health grounds.

Electric gravel touring pitch

Liked: Close to everything

Disliked: Expensive for what is essentially staying in a lay-by, roads horrendous to get there with tight junctions, had a twin axle caravan had to shunt backwards to get onto the site

Electric gravel touring pitch

Liked: NOTHING

Disliked: Toilets and shower block are a disgrace everything is bodged up and no they are not clean. Waste water and toilet emptying area is unbelievable! Approach to site is fingers crossed you don’t meet any thing coming the other way . The bridge over the beck on site is collapsing and is dangerous and the pitches are all in line along the side of the stream which the banking is also collapsing in places exposing water and power supply pipes and cables!
There is no view at all of the country side despite what the description says. We have been caravan and motorhome users of all types of sites small and large including many farm sites for nearly 50 years and this is the worst we have been to.

Local attractions

This park’s close to several of the top sightseeing spots in north Wales. Flit to the fantastically preserved Conwy Castle (10 minutes’ drive) to feast your eyes on fortifications dating back to the 13th century, making sure to walk the walls as well for views over the town below. Descend into the streets and have a quick stop at the Smallest House in Great Britain, followed up by a longer one at the restored Elizabethan-era home Plas Mawr. Later on, browse the boutiques before seeking out a cosy pub for a beverage or two. For strolls surrounded by spectacular scenery, make your way to the National Trust’s Bodnant Garden (10 minutes) and amble through the 80 acres of wildflower meadows, glades and pristine lawns set on a hillside. Too placid for your tastes? Amp up your trip with a turn on the artificial waves at Adventure Parc Snowdonia (20 minutes) or zoom down a zipwire suspended above a disused slate quarry at Zipworld (half an hour away).
