  • Back-to-basics wild camping 20 minutes’ drive from Okehampton in Devon
  • Dartmoor National Park 20 minutes’ drive and Bude beaches 40 minutes
  • Woodland walks and communal barbecues; pub and shops 10 minutes’ drive
Turn back the years and experience camping like it used to be… Foxhole Glade is a wild, off-grid pop-up in nearly 20 acres of peaceful Devon fields and woodlands. There’s plenty of room for family, friends and dogs, so turn up, pick your favoured spot and get exploring the rare temperate rainforest and culm grassland habitats also present on the property. Site facilities stretch to a compost loo, a fire circle in the woods, a scattering of firepits and barbecues for your use and a solar set-up for charging devices/torches (weather permitting). The closest you’ll get to a wash is a splash in the stream edging the field, the only undercover space is a communal field shelter and when it comes to water, come prepared – there is no drinking water on site. But what the camping field lacks in luxuries, it makes up with freedom. You have plenty of acreage in which to wander, stargaze on clear nights and generally have fun with family and friends. Borrow boardgames and guides to the wildlife around you, laze in hammocks, or bring games like archery and rounders sets from home. If the kids need something more to keep them occupied, you can book mini bushcraft classes (chargeable) on site too. There are woodland walks through Forestry Commission woodland just down the road, and cosy pubs and village shops within 10 minutes’ drive. Supermarket shops can be done in any of Okehampton, Launceston and Holsworthy (all around 20 minutes’ drive).
