What customers say
This barn conversion offers a peaceful, cosy retreat with great scenery & walks. Guests love the cleanliness, comfort & thoughtful touches. Louise, the host, is frequently praised. Ideal for chilling out, though amenities are scarce. Some had minor shower/water issues & one found the kitchen lacking. Highly recommended for peace & beauty.

What a gem of a place…
Cabin
Liked What a gem of a place you have Louise. we spent 2 lovely days in Dog crag cabin. Couldn't imagine what was behind the Hobbit like door... it was quite magical and felt instantly homely. Very clean, airy and comfortable. A lovely view from the window, (cockerel crowed at 6.am) but didn't bother us,and the swifts in the adjoining building was quite sweet. Silecroft beach, just 5 mins drive away is just beautiful as was the weather. We swam in the (warm)sea. Enjoyed ice cream in the cafe, watching the horses on the beach. Did a couple of walks suggested in the file. The quarry walk (quite long)and the Kirk Stanton track is worth doing for the unexpected views from the top. Paid a visit to Millom, found a lovely shoe/dress shop.
We will definitely be back and would like to stay in the cottage that has more outdoor space. Really enjoyed our few days away and had a good chat and laughs with Louise warmed to the excited dogs.
Disliked Dog crag cabin lacked outdoor space

Superb location and facilities for a relaxing break
Cabin
Liked Thoughtful layout. Not just dog friendly, the owners adore dogs. Keeping dogs and childerbeasts on a lead at all times essential for everyones piece of mind. Wifi is brilliant....it needs to be as next to no phone signal....which is a blessing
Disliked Having to leave

From the manager: Thanks for the lovely review, we do have some horses and free range hens and ducks on site so we appreciate the comment regarding dogs on a lead. There is limited mobile reception inside the cabin due to the building's external walls being built of stone - but you can get decent signal outside for most mobile networks. Wifi inside is generally good as per the review.
Louise could not have been any more friendly.
Cabin
Liked Loved everything about our stay, the cabin was super clean and had everything we needed. The location was great with walks nearby and the beach only a short drive away. We spent the evenings bat and owl watching . We both have not slept as well for ages, we will definitely be back.
Disliked Nothing not to like

Beautiful place, would definitely recommend
Cabin
Liked Honestly, this was our second stay at Dog Crag Cabin and yet again it was absolutely amazing. Louise went above and beyond for us as it was a celebratory trip away and will always be a special place to us. The cabin is beautiful and so peaceful, the scenery is insane and I couldn’t recommend staying there more. If I could give it more stars I would, thank you again for such a wonderful stay!

Cabin
Liked Beautiful barn conversion in a scenic location. Had all the amenities, spotlessly clean, and was modern yet quaint. The interior design is stunning and the pictures don't do it justice. Great location with plenty to do. Millom is only a short drive for the shop, and we visited RSPB Hodbarrow to see nesting birds and did a bit of fishing on the coast. Lots of opportunity for walking in the area. We loved watching the horses on the farm and livestock in the fields, ducks and chickens roaming free and hearing the swallows. We didn't bring a dog but they do welcome them, the Cabin would suit a small dog but they also have a bigger cottage to holiday in. Good WiFi and ample parking. The owner gave us privacy and was very friendly when we said hello. I would definitely recommend staying here and I see why they have such a good rating.
Disliked My partner was woken early in the morning by the rooster - but I can't complain

Liked The cabin was lovely and cosy. The bed was really comfortable. I liked sitting on the little sofa and reading the tiny house/cabin books. It is a really peaceful area and Silecroft beach is just a short drive away. Would recommend the Byre Cafe in Bootle.

Fantastic visit, friendly, clean, great for price
Cabin
Liked Beautiful cabin and surrounding fields, lovely pebbly beach and good walks. Good for walkers, people who want some zen.
Disliked Not much of a dislike more a recommendation- surrounding villages very quiet/derelict, it’s great if you want to have meals in the cabin and have some peace and not experience of Fomo. Then again I did visit middle of winter, may be more lively in Summer!!

From the manager: Thanks for the great review. Things are very quiet in early January but our fantastic new beach cafe at Silecroft with a lovely menu and views of the sea is great even on a winter day and is dog friendly. We also have a great pub at Kirksanton (King William) which is open for breakfast lunch and dinner even in the winter, also dog friendly. Maybe a bit quiet but not derelict for sure.😁

Cabin
Liked Absolute gem of a place!!! We really loved everything about it. Decided to book and come with our dog to escape the New Year’s fireworks! Amazing location, close to lots of beautiful countryside walks, a short drive from Silecroft beach, Millom and Haverigg and not far a drive from the south of The Lake District (Coniston and Ulverston). The cabin has everything you think you may need and then more! Fully equipped campers’ kitchen, basic but modern, a good size fridge (has no freezer/ice box), electric hob plate, toaster, microwave and kettle. Best night’s sleep we’ve had in a while too, the bed was so comfy! So cozy, peaceful and considering it was the end of December, it was very warm and clean too. Decent sized bathroom with walk-in shower. Lots of plugs to charge your phone/tablet, good Wi-Fi (we streamed series on our tablet fine and even had a couple of Skype calls), dog friendly, parking is available right next to the cabin too and there is a little guide book in the cabin carefully put together by our host Louise who was so lovely and friendly and happily answered all my questions! We loved it so much that we ended up extending our stay for one more night too and we’re also considering coming back for our anniversary in spring. It was the perfect stay for us and we couldn’t have asked for a better way to spend New Year’s. Thank you and we’ll definitely be back next new year!

From the manager: Thanks for the great review, for future guests, we lost power in the area for a few hours due to Storm Bert, hence the heating, but as we live on site fortunately we can check on any issues and keep guests up to date. Luckily power cuts are rare and usually only due to extreme weather but these guests were great sports, many thanks guys!
