What customers say
A friendly, well-kept adult-only site with private, level pitches, often amongst trees. Hosts are praised for helpfulness & attention to detail. Facilities are clean and good. Convenient for exploring the Lake District. Some noise from the A road & steep walks to pitches, but privacy & views are highlights.

A very well run small camp site, nice and quiet and very clean.
Small hillside non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked Great location, friendly and informative hosts. The site is probably the closest you can get to wild camping, very natural and well thought out pitches. The option to buy logs for camp fire was an added bonus.
Disliked Another shower/toilet would have been advantageous, long wait in a morning to use facilities.

Would stay again but would pack lighter and bring a smaller tent
Small hillside non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked Location is ideal for visiting the towns along Windermere trees inbetween pitches for privacy. Gorgeous views. Perfect spot for stargazing. Adults only sight. 11pm noise curfew ideal for couples
Disliked Pot wash station is cold water only making it difficult to clean plates effectively. There are no lights on site. The hill is very steep and the pitches are very small we took a four man tent and it invaded the next pitch

From the manager: Thanks for your review.
The washing up station is cold water as campers that have cooked their dinner are quite capable of cooking water for their washing up. If we provided unlimited hot water we would put the prices up.
There are no street lights on the hill because campers bring torches and it's the countryside! There is PIR floodlighting around the main facilities and solar lights in the compost loo.
I believe your tent was rather larger than a normal four person tent. Check the model - if it says something like 500 on the name it's a five person. It was very large for our site.
The maximum pitch sizes are on the details on Pitchup and this year we have emphasized that the pitches are 'Small Hillside' pitches so there is no ambiguity. They are small pitches and on a hillside. If customers bring tents too big for the pitches available, it's really their problem and they must not encroach on neighbouring pitches.

Small hillside non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked Wonderful spot! Perfect level of scenic and comfortable. The campsite was so well thought out by its owners and has everything you might need. This in hand with good transport links, a shop and pub near and most importantly the most beautiful plot for your tent made it a GREAT experience.

Disliked That hill to go up to the pitch was expected but after a few trips with the trolley it was an effort, especially if you were right at the top, definitely not for the less mobile or unfit !
Wouldn’t put me off going though
Could be better signposted Sat Nav had us on the opposite side of the road !

Being in a rural area, most of the village both sides of the road shares the same postcode, so if you only use that you'll end up over by the Church/Watermill Inn.
Our Google maps location is 100 percent correct and takes you to the centre of our car park, as does the map location on Pitchup.
Great little site!
Small hillside non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked I was greeted on arrival and shown all the facilities and then left to choose my own pitch from the ones available.
Showers and toilet were all clean and tidy
Pitches were private and secluded but still had amazing views of the surrounding scenery

Great site, level pitches and wonderful hosts.
Small hillside non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked The hosts/owners were lovely, very accommodating and genuine. I accidentally booked the wrong days but when I called up they were able to help me out with no fuss at all. The camp was very clean with fire pits and bbq available at no extra cost. The pitches themselves were very private and perfect for a romantic night under the stars. Each pitch either came with a picnic bench or some sort of seating which I thought was a nice touch.
The showers were clean and next to the showers they have a locker which you can charge your electricals up with, free of charge. Parking is safe and next to the main house. There’s also trolleys to use to get your stuff up the hill.
Disliked The hill to the pitch is a bit of a monster but there are nice views and it does feel lively and private. It’s not really a dislike but an annoyance when going to the toilet in the night time.

Good location to explore from.
Small hillside non-electric grass tent pitch
Liked Great compostible toilet! Really one of the best I've been to and additional bonus of free charging which is helpful as well. We were greeted by the lovely owner and were shown around the facilities as soon as we got there. The pitch is very level, private and nice views depending on your pitch. Shop and nice micro brewery pub in short walking distance :)
Lovely ginger cat that we saw on the site too!
Disliked Noisy road which can be heard throughout the night and steep walk up to the pitches. You do get given a cart to haul your stuff up to the pitch though.
