Cumbria’s a cracker of a place for a hol, and the Inn at the Bush is a convenient site for a stopover when roving the region in your motorhome or campervan. Park up here next to the pub, bar and restaurant for fuss-free access to food, drink and the Solway Coast. The park is on the eastern edge of this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, under 10 minutes’ drive from Bowness-on-Solway and 25 minutes west of Carlisle. Twitching type? You’ll be chuffed to know it’s also set close to the Solway Firth and the Solway Wetlands’ birdwatching haven. While the whole area may sound a little marshy, there are no worries about getting stuck in the mud while at this site: pitches are on ground that has never been flooded and a slight incline means water runs off the land so you can be confident of always being dry. This park is a simple spot, but you’ll have access to the essentials on the grounds, including toilets, showers, water taps and internet. It’s also family-, dog- and motorbiker-friendly, with four-legged creatures permitted in the pub if you’re planning on dining there.

  • The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. XL Bully, Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).
  • There is no reception on-site: on arrival please contact the number provided on your booking confirmation.
  • The pub and toilet/shower facilities are open from 5pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays, 3pm on Fridays and Saturdays and 12pm on Sundays.

Friendly welcome from staff and locals. Generally clean facilities, including hot showers and loos. Great pub with good grub on site. Some say it's basic, but most reckon it's good value and a handy stopover, with a chill vibe and fido-friendly too.

Liked Steve was very friendly we had a good chat . He even made a coffee 😌 no restrictions and even extended our stay. Very good place to stay. You can buy drinks and order a pizza in his pub

Liked Good level site, next to beer garden. Onsite shower was remarkably good.

Disliked Car park can be a little noisy whilst pub is open but was not a problem as overall a good place to rest and relax.

Liked What a fantastic find, the site pitch was level. Toilets were open throughout the night. There is a shower on site too which is a bonus it was clean and tidy. Lovely outside space.
All the staff were so friendly and welcoming as were the locals, our dog was made most welcome too.
Already recommended to lots of people and will definitely return.

Liked Perfect place for our small tent, flat and soft ground. Good shower.

Disliked Our food was prepared by a smoker, thus tasted rather flat.

Liked Location - perfect for scottish border or the lakes for Motorcycle tours.
Food - fine fare and very tasty at a good price - Breakfast was brilliant.
Camping in the garden was ideal, could see the bikes and easy access to the pub / restaurant.
Service and Hospitallity - all the staff especially Stev were very freindly and welcoming, nothing was to much trouble.
BEER - best pint of San Mig Ive had in a long while :)

Liked The owner was friendly, as was the bar staff. The shower was roomy, hot and clean. Toilets were clean. There was a bit of road noise but relatively quiet overnight.

If you’re a keen birdwatcher, make the Solway Wetlands Centre at RSPB Campfield Marsh (within 15 minutes’ drive) your first stop for explores of the wildlife-rich wetlands and grasslands. And if you’re more of a hiker or a history fan? Get to the start of Hadrian’s Wall at Bowness-on-Solway (10 minutes) or access it just outside Wigton (five minutes) for walks beside this Roman-era structure. If you fancy making a foray a little further afield, cross the Scottish border to Gretna Green (half an hour) to see the spot where countless illicit marriages have taken place. The Lake District National Park is a little closer by (25 minutes) for jaunts around the fells and tarns; make sure to visit one of the most popular places in the area, Keswick (45 minutes), for especially stunning views. And if you feel like your trip to Cumbria needs some time by the beach? Set off for Silloth (25 minutes) and take a few hours out of your afternoon investigating this typically northern Victorian seaside resort. Backed by the Lake District’s fells and a fave of the artist Turner, it’s known for its spectacular sunsets.
