  • Peaceful family-run park on the Cumbria coast three miles from Silloth
  • Lake District half an hour's drive; 40 minutes to Carlisle
  • Dog-friendly site with access to a long sandy beach
A west-facing site is a lovely thing, allowing you to spend the evening raising a glass (and/or a sausage from the barbecue) to the colourful sunset unfolding in front of you. The only thing that could make this picture even better? A sea view to go with your sunset… and that's exactly what you can expect at Rowanbank Caravan Park. This peaceful family-run park is on the Cumbria coast, five minutes’ drive south of Silloth and right next to a huge sandy beach that's a popular spot for fishing, dog walks and long coastal strolls. Dogs are, of course, welcome on site as well… You'll be just outside the Solway Coast National Landscape here, so there are plenty more walking options around there, or in the northern parts of the Lake District National Park, which is about half an hour's drive away. Add in a championship golf course, a go-kart track, a wildlife park and several historic sites nearby and you should have a location with something to suit most tastes when it comes to days out. This is a laidback and friendly site with simple facilities in the form of toilets, showers, a washing-up area, an Elsan point and a launderette. Bring a barbecue along and you'll be able to load it with supplies from the small supermarket in Silloth, which is also a handy place to find cafés and takeaways (fish and chips on the beach, anyone?)

What customers say

Peaceful, well-kept site, friendly staff, great beach access. Spacious pitches, good water. Showers dated but clean. Good value, though dog fees a bit steep. Perfect for quiet coastal walks.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked The peace & quiet !
The cows in surrounding fields having babies
The views from the camping field : Lakeland mountains to the South - the hills of Scotland to North across the Solway Firth
The beach is vast and just across the road
Facilities spotlessly clean
The manager was available almost all of the time, really friendly and couldn’t do enough for you.

Electric gravel touring pitch

Liked The site was perfect for us & very quiet, we were two adults, 11yr old granddaughter & two Akita dogs
If you want the ritz then this place isn’t for you, it’s dated but clean & more than adequate & the grounds are really well kept
We had a touring pitch for our motorhome with awning, we also had electric hookup & again the size of pitch was great (if you can get the end pitch it’s the best one)
Just over the road which isn’t too busy your straight onto the beach(solway coast) which if you have dogs or just like to walk I doubt you’l find a better one when the tides out
We walked into Siloth for fish & chips on the sand which was roughly 70mins steady stroll while our granddaughter found crabs & loads of shells, there is also a pathway if the tides in
Siloth is a lovely town & was very busy
Just a heads up if your booking a touring pitch, there is mostly residential pitches with only 4 or 5 touring pitches which doesn’t bother us as the residents know all the local things to do & where to go but just thought I would mention
All in all we had a great time at Rowanbank so keep up the good work & we’l see you again

Electric gravel touring pitch

Liked Good sized pitch. Quiet site. Easy beach access across the road. Nice sized shower blocks, all recycling, waste disposal etc in one area. Tap by pitch.

Disliked Nice site but £4 per night for a dog is a bit steep, there are no facilities ie dog field, not even a specific dog bin. Bumps the price up considerably if you had 2 dogs or were staying for a few nights.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked I am thankful I found the review that questioned others’ comments on the loos and chose to book this site. We loved it here. So close to the beach across the road and pitched in a quiet field at the top of the caravan spaces. We could not fault here and encourage others to book. For tents, you turn up and choose where to camp up in a field that is clean, tidy and recently mowed. Beautiful views over Criffel to the West and Cumbrian hills of the Lake District to the East. Double whammie of sunrises and sunsets.
The whole park is pristine and secured by residents keycard to open and close the gate.
The showers were piping hot, plenty of water and housed within a toilet block that was always immaculate and well stocked of tp.
We are lucky to have found a campsite that is quiet and suitable for us and our dogs, so close to our homes. We will be back, simply waiting to see the weather in the next couple of weeks.
